Georgina Gotch (born 9 April 1994 in New South Wales) is an Australian former national representative rower. She was a four-time national champion and a medallist at the 2018 World Rowing Championships.
Gotch was raised in Sydney and educated at Queenwood where she took up rowing. Her senior rowing has been from the Sydney University Boat Club.
She was first selected to represent New South Wales in the women's youth eight which contested and won the Bicentennial Cup in the Interstate Regatta at the 2012 Australian Rowing Championships. [1] In 2013 she rowed again in a victorious New South Wales youth eight [2] and then in the 2014 youth eight. For six consecutive years from 2015 to 2021 she rowed in New South Welsh senior women's eights contesting the Queen's Cup at the Australian Interstate Regatta. She stroked those VIIIs in 2015, 2017 and 2018 [3] and saw a victory in 2019. [4]
In a composite pairing with the West Australian Bronwyn Cox, Gotch won the 2019 Australian national title in the coxless pair at the 2019 Australian Championships. [5]
Gotch made her Australian representative debut in 2011 at the World Junior Rowing Championships at Eton Dorney. She raced in the coxless four which finished in overall seventh place. [6] In 2012 she again rowed in the coxless four at the Junior World Championships, making the A final and placing overall fifth. [6] In 2013 she made it into the U23 Australian eight who at the U23 World Championships in Linz that year placed fourth. [6] She raced in a coxless pair at the 2014 WRC I in Sydney and was in the U23 eight again for the 2014 U23 World Championships in Varese. [6] In 2015 Gotch stroked the Australian quad to a silver medal win at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Plovdiv. [6]
Gotch finally made the Australian senior squad and into the four seat of the senior women's eight when they started their 2018 international campaign with a bronze medal win at the World Rowing Cup II in Linz, Austria. [6] Then at the WRC III in Lucerne they finished fifth. At the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv the Australian women's eight with Gotch in the two seat, won their heat and placed third in the final winning the bronze medal. [6]
Hannah Vermeersch is an Australian Olympic rower. She represented for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics and at World Championships from 2013 to 2018. She won the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta in the Australian women's eight.
Spencer Alf Turrin is an Australian representative rower. He is a national champion, twice world champion, a dual Olympian and an Olympic champion. He competed and won medals in the Australian senior men's coxless four at every World Rowing Championship from 2013 to 2018, culminating in consecutive world championship gold at Sarasota 2017 and 2018 Plovdiv. He rowed in the two seat of the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Alexander Hill is an Australian representative rower. He is an Australian national champion, a dual Olympian, an Olympic gold and silver medallist and was the 2017 and 2018 world champion in the coxless four. He stroked the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Lucy Stephan is an Australian rower. She is a multiple Australian champion, a 2016 and 2020 Olympian and a world champion who won a 2017 world title in the coxless four and regained that same world title in 2019. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics she set the pace from the bow seat of the Australian coxless four to a gold medal victory. She won the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta in the Australian women's eight.
Genevieve Horton is an Australian rower, a dual Olympian, a junior world champion and an Australian national champion. She competed in the women's double sculls event at the 2016 Summer Olympics and is the 2019 Australian national champion in the women's single scull. She rowed in the Australian women's eight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Joshua Hicks is an Australian representative rower. He is an Olympian and a two-time world champion who won gold in the coxless four at the 2017 World Rowing Championships and defended that title at Plovdiv in 2018. He competed in the Australian men's coxless pair at Tokyo 2021.
Jack Hargreaves is an Australian representative rower and a world and an Olympic champion. He won consecutive world championships in the coxless four at the 2017 World Rowing Championships, then successfully defended that title at 2018 Plovdiv. He rowed in the three seat of the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Katrina Werry is an Olympian and Australian national and two-time world champion rower. At the 2017 World Rowing Championships, she became world champion in the women's coxless four with Lucy Stephan, Sarah Hawe, and Molly Goodman. She regained that coxless four world championship title in 2019. She won the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta in the Australian women's eight. She rowed in the Australian women's eight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Rosemary Popa is an Australian national champion rower, Olympic gold medalist, and former rower for the University of California, Berkeley. A dual citizen of Australia and the United States, she has represented both countries at World Rowing Championships, twice winning medals for Australia. She won the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta in the Australian women's eight. In 2021, she was selected to represent Australia in the coxless four event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics, where she won the gold medal.
Alexander (Steve) Purnell is an Australian rower. He is an Olympic and national champion who has represented at underage and senior world championships. In 2018 in an Australian eight, he won the Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta. He rowed in the bow seat of the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Angus Moore is an Australian former representative rower. He was a three-time King's Cup winner, medalled at underage and senior world rowing championships and in 2018 won the Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in an Australian eight.
Perry Ward is an Australian national representative lightweight rower. He rowed in Western Australia's state selection lightweight crew for thirteen consecutive years from 2006 to 2018, winning the national title on four occasions. He represented Australia at eight senior and U23 world championships, stroking every crew in which he was selected and winning a silver medal at the 2010 World Rowing Championships.
Robert Black is an Australian rower. He is a national champion, a national representative in sculling and sweep-oared boats and twice an U23 World Champion.
Liam Donald is an Australian rower. He is a national champion, a national representative at world championships and was an U23 World Champion.
