Georgina Nicola Alexandra Waylen, FBA , FAcSS (born 1959) is a British political scientist, specialising in comparative politics, political economy, and gender and politics. Since April 2012, she has been Professor of Politics at the University of Manchester. She previously taught at the University of Sheffield, the University of Salford and the University of East Anglia. She was a visiting scholar at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, Harvard University from 2016 to 2017, and has been a visiting professor in the Department of Gender Studies at the London School of Economics since 2018. Waylen studied politics and economics at the University of Manchester, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1981. [4] She remained at Manchester to undertake postgraduate studies in political development between 1981 and 1983, graduating with a Master of Arts (MA) degree. [4] She then joined Huddersfield Polytechnic to undertake her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. [4] Her doctoral thesis was titled "British capital, local capital and the role of the state in the political economy of Jamaica 1920-1940". [5] As Huddersfield Polytechnic did not have degree awarding powers, she was awarded her PhD by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) in 1988. [4]
Waylen was awarded the 2008 Victoria Schuck Award by the American Political Science Association for her book Engendering Transitions: Women’s Mobilization, Institutions, and Gender Outcomes. [6]
Waylen was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) in 2010. [7] [4] In July 2018, she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy (FBA), the United Kingdom's national academy for the humanities and social sciences. [8] [9]
Bhikhu Chotalal Parekh, Baron Parekh, is a British political theorist, academic, and life peer. He is a Labour Party member of the House of Lords. He was Professor of Political Theory at the University of Hull from 1982 to 2001, and Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Westminster from 2001 to 2009. He served as president of the Academy of Social Sciences from 2003 to 2008.

He was a member of the Department of Politics at the University of Sheffield (1973–2007), for many years as a professor and rejoined the department in 2014.

Shirin M. Rai, is an interdisciplinary scholar who works across the political science and international relations boundaries. She is known for her research on the intersections between international political economy, globalisation, post-colonial governance, institutions and processes of democratisation and gender regimes. She was a professor of politics and international studies at the University of Warwick, and is the founding director of Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development (WICID).
Sir Ian David Diamond is a British statistician, academic, and administrator, who served as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen until 2018. He became the UK's National Statistician in October 2019.

Emily Marjata Dorothea Grundy, is a British demographer and academic, specialising in ageing and health inequalities. Since 2013, she has been Professor of Demography at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She was previously Professor of Demographic Gerontology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) from 2003 to 2012, and Professor of Demography at the University of Cambridge from 2012 to 2013. From October 2017, she will be Professor of Population Science and Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex.

The Victoria Schuck Award is an annual prize granted by the American Political Science Association to the author of the best book published in the previous year on the topic of women and politics. The award is named in honor of the political scientist Victoria Schuck.
