The German Africa Prize or German Africa Award (German : Deutscher Afrika-Preis) has been awarded annually since 1993 [1] by the German Africa Foundation (German : Deutsche Afrika Stiftung) to promote peace, democracy, social market economy and human rights. In addition to these primary goals, the German Africa Prize is intended to contribute to the understanding in Germany of Africa and increase awareness of Africa.
The award is announced by means of an annual invitation for nominations, with the participation of German diplomatic missions as well as the foreign representatives of the sponsors. The award winners are decided by an independent jury, which, in addition to members of the German Africa Foundation, consists of representatives of the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, the German Council on Foreign Relations and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. In addition, jury members may be nominated by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, the German Africa Foundation and other German political foundations. [2]

Deutsche Welle, commonly shortened to DW, is a German public, state-owned international broadcaster funded by the German federal tax budget. The service is available in 32 languages. DW's satellite television service consists of channels in English, German, Spanish, Persian, and Arabic. The work of DW is regulated by the Deutsche Welle Act, stating that content is intended to be independent of government influence. DW is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The Hanseatic Goethe Prize was a German literary and artistic award, given biennially from 1949 to 2005 to a figure of European stature. The prize money was €25,000. On the occasion of Goethe's 200th birthday, the Freiherr vom Stein Foundation in Hamburg endowed a cultural prize "for important personalities in the intellectual life". The prize was awarded by the foundation of the Hamburg businessman Alfred Toepfer, Alfred Toepfer Foundation F. V. S..

Karl Heinz Bohrer was a German literary scholar and essayist. He worked as chief editor for literature of the daily FAZ, and became co-publisher and author of the cultural magazine Merkur. He taught at the Bielefeld University for decades, and also at Stanford University, California. His autobiography appeared in two volumes in 2012 and 2017. Bohrer is regarded as a disputative intellectual thinker and critic, reflecting his time. He received notable awards for criticism, German language and literature, including the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize and the Heinrich Mann Prize. For his extensive work, Bohrer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with Ribbon (2014).
The German Book Prize is awarded annually, in October, by the German Publishers and Booksellers Association to the best new German language novel of the year. The books, published in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, are nominated by their publishers, who can propose up to two books from their current or planned publication list. The books should be in shops before the short-list is announced in September of the award year. The winner is awarded €25,000, while the five shortlisted authors receive €2,500 each. It is presented annually during the Frankfurt Book Fair.

The Konrad Adenauer Prize was an award by the Germany Foundation, a national conservative organisation associated with the Christian Democratic Union, from 1967 to 2001 It was given annually between 1973 and 1975, then every two years, with exceptions, from 1975 to 2001. She served as the Public Protector of South Africa from 19 October 2009 to 14 October 2016. The Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Germany has been awarded since 1991 to artists, ensembles or projects who implement Jeunesses Musicales Germany's (JMD) values and objectives in an exemplary manner. Together with the Würth Foundation, the JMD has been honoring individual personalities, ensembles and projects every year. The prize is presented in Künzelsau and endowed with 25,000 euros. The jury is made up of representatives from the Würth Foundation and Jeunesses Musicales Germany and is advised by the Deutscher Musikrat. It was founded in 1988 by Karlheinz and Christiane Kaske in memory of their sons Christoph and Stephan. The Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation has its legal seat in Munich. The aim is to promote young, promising interpreters and composers in the field of new music. The award is endowed with € 10,000. The selection of the winner is made by a board of trustees. The prize is awarded in a ceremony at the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz.

The Großer BDA Preis is an architecture prize founded in Berlin in 1963. The Association of German Architects (BDA) honors architects, urban planners at home and abroad every three years for their outstanding achievements in architecture or urban development. The award is endowed with a certificate, a cash prize of €5,000 and a gold medal. The gold medal shows Daedalus and a maze based on the labyrinth of Knossos.
