Gerard Jones is an American retired ice hockey goaltender who was an All-American for Yale. [1]

Career

Jones was a 3-year starter for Murray Murdoch and played well in net for an otherwise mediocre team. As a junior Jones set a program record by stopping 66 shots in a 1–7 loss to St. Lawrence on December 14 (a record that stands as of 2020). [2] The following year Jones was able to get Yale to post a winning record in both overall and became the first AHCA All-American in program history. [1]

ECAC Hockey US collegiate ice hockey conference

ECAC Hockey is one of the six conferences that compete in NCAA Division I ice hockey. The conference used to be affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a consortium of over 300 colleges in the eastern United States. Yale Bulldogs mens ice hockey

The Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team represents Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and is the oldest collegiate ice hockey team in the United States. The Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League and the ECAC Hockey League (ECACHL) and play their home games at Ingalls Rink, also called the Yale Whale. The current head coach is Keith Allain, who led the Bulldogs to an Ivy League championship in his first year as head coach. Allain is assisted by former QU/UND goaltender, Josh Siembida. On April 13, 2013, the Bulldogs shut out Quinnipiac 4–0 to win their first NCAA Division I Championship.

Mercyhurst Lakers womens ice hockey

The Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team is the hockey team that represents the Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania. The program started in 1999 and Michael Sisti has been the only coach in the history of the program. From 2000 to 2002, the Lakers were part of the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association. While in the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association, the Lakers qualified for the GLWHA tournament twice. The Lakers were regular season champions in 2000–01 and 2001–02, and won the playoff championships in 2002. For the 2002–03 season, the Lakers joined the College Hockey America conference.

The Cornell Big Red women's ice hockey program represents Cornell University and participates in Division I collegiate hockey in the ECAC Hockey conference. They play at the Lynah Rink in Ithaca, New York.

The Intercollegiate Hockey Association was a loose collection of ice hockey programs from schools in the Northeastern United States. The colleges involved would schedule one another at least once during the season with and the team with the best record would be declared the champion. As this was the only championship for college hockey at the time, however unofficial the designation may have been, the victor served as the de facto National Champion. The IHA was called both the Intercollegiate Hockey Association and the Intercollegiate Hockey League during its existence. It's referred to here as the IHA to distinguish from the later Intercollegiate Hockey League.
