Get the Fuck Up Radio (GTFU) was an internet and pirate radio radio program located in Los Angeles. The program was broadcast every Monday night from 2000 to 2010 by Aaron Farley and Jeremy Weiss so the two photographers could hang out weekly. The format included band interviews, live musical performances, and prank calls. A few years later, Annie Hardy was added to the team. Other regulars to the show include Luis the Humble Mexican, Chrississippi, Curtis Mead, Kevin Kusatsu, Devin Foley, Jentern and Travis Keller. One notable guest on the show was Sean Carlson, who they referred to as "High School Sean" because of his young age.
In 2000, Weiss met Aaron North and Travis Kelley of Buddyhead in San Francisco. North and Kelly encouraged Weiss to move to Los Angeles, and join Buddyhead, which included the Buddyhead radioshow. After the Dot-com bubble, financial support for Buddyhead plummeted, and Weiss and fellow photographer Aaron Farley developed GTFU as an spin-off radioshow. The concept for their version of the show was based on the television show WKRP in Cincinnati.
The show originally aired on internet station Kill Radio. Then the show aired from 8:00-11:00pm PST every Monday night on Little Radio. The last couple of years of the show were broadcast out of a secret location in Silver Lake on Monday nights at 7-10PM on GTFURadio.com.
GTFU Radio has been featured in LA Weekly, [1] LA Record and Swindle Magazine . [2] Some past guests of GTFU include Say Anything, Franz Ferdinand, Saves the Day, Giant Drag, The Libertines, Piebald, Mars Volta, Matt Costa, Rilo Kiley and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. KXLU is a radio station broadcasting out of Loyola Marymount University in southwest Los Angeles, California. It was first on the air in 1957, and in 2007, celebrated its 50th anniversary. It is a non-commercial college radio station that plays many styles of music broadly classified under rock, specialty, fine arts, alternative music and Latin jazz. KXLU has a small, cult following among music fans in the general Los Angeles metropolitan area. The station's rock programming runs between 2am and 6pm on weekdays and the hosts during this time are predominantly college students. Specialty shows include "Stray Pop" hosted by Stella, "Music For Nimrods" hosted by Reverend Dan, "She Rocks" hosted by McAllister, Biancadonk and Cass Monster, "In a Dream" hosted by Mystic Pete, "The Bomb Shelter" hosted by Uncle Tim, "Livation" hosted by Robert Douglas and Hilary Russell, "The Molotov Cocktail Hour" hosted by Cyrano & Señor Amor, "The Windmills of Your Mind" hosted by Taylor 2000, "Neuz Pollution" hosted by Chris Candy and Maki, "Demolisten" hosted by Fred and Sean Carnage, "A Fistful Of Vinyl" hosted by Alec & John, and "Center Stage" hosted by Mark Gordon, among other programs. There is also a public affairs program called "Echo in the Sense". Their weekend Latin jazz block "Alma del Barrio" has been on the air since 1973, with longtime host Eddie Lopez curating the program for over 40 years.
Buckcherry is an American hard rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1995. The band released two albums, Buckcherry (1999) and Time Bomb (2001), before dissolving in 2002. Buckcherry's first album Buckcherry was DreamWorks' first album to go gold. In 2005, lead vocalist Josh Todd and lead guitarist Keith Nelson reformed Buckcherry with a new lineup and released a new album in 2006, 15. It contained Buckcherry's biggest crossover hits to date, "Crazy Bitch", and their first Billboard Hot 100 top ten hit, "Sorry". The band continued to record albums, releasing five between 2008 and 2019: Black Butterfly in 2008, All Night Long in 2010, Confessions in 2013, Rock 'n' Roll in 2015, and Warpaint in 2019. Their ninth album Hellbound released in 2021, and their tenth and most recent album Vol. 10 released in 2023.
Aaron Wright North is an American musician. He was the co-founder and guitarist of punk band The Icarus Line, a touring lead guitarist of industrial rock group Nine Inch Nails, and vocalist/guitarist for Jubilee. North is noted for his chaotic and unconventional guitar approach, his use and command of feedback, and the flailing of his guitar wildly while on stage.
Ink & Dagger were a hardcore punk band from Philadelphia that was active in the 1990s. The two permanent members throughout the band's career were guitarist Don Devore and vocalist Sean Patrick McCabe. Other members included Ashli State, Terry Yerves, Ryan McLaughlin, Joshua Brown, Jennifer Layne Park, Dave Wagenschutz, Derek Zglenski, and Eric Wareheim. Band members frequently incorporated references to vampires in their music, painted their faces, and played with fake blood. Some members were previously in Crud is a Cult, The Mandela Strike Force and Frail.
Buddyhead is a music website and independent record label created by Aaron North and Travis Keller in the summer of 1998, in Hollywood, California. Buddyhead engaged in pop culture and music industry criticism. Its legendary gossip column resulted in over a dozen lawsuits, filed by numerous celebrities and record labels, including Korn, Courtney Love, Fred Durst, Moby, Drive-Thru Records, and Axl Rose, as well as high profile entertainment executives such as Ari Emmanuel.
Theodore "Ted" Ramón Stryker known on-air as simply "Stryker", is an American radio personality and disc jockey.
Sean Carnage, born Sean Carney, is an American director and producer living in Los Angeles. He is also a concert promoter, hosting "Sean Carnage Monday Nights" at Pehrspace in Echo Park, Carnage has also hosted his "Monday nights" in the past at Los Angeles venues The Smell and the il Corral.
Wires on Fire are a Los Angeles–based rock band, formed in 2004 by Jeff Lynn, Dash Hutton, Michael Shuman and Evan Weiss. The band has released titles such as Homewrecker EP (2004), Wires on Fire/Mean Reds split (2006) and their self-titled LP (2006), which sold particularly well in the United Kingdom. The band has toured all over the United States, sharing the stage with acts such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Icarus Line, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Cold War Kids, Black Lips, Man Man, Death From Above 1979, Pink Mountaintops and others. The band is currently involved in recording their next full length in Shabbey Road Studios.
L.A. Record is an independent music magazine originally published weekly as a broadsheet poster. The poster usually depicts a local Los Angeles musicians and according to the magazine editors is meant to recreate an iconic album cover. In March 2008, it began publishing as a monthly magazine with a poster inside. The magazine is available to the public free of charge at local community spots in Southern California.
KAV is a British musician from Leicester, England, now based in Los Angeles. Sandhu played guitar with British band Happy Mondays for four years after helping reform the band with frontman Shaun Ryder in 2004. He launched his solo project under moniker "KAV" in 2008 with long-time friend and drummer Jim (James) Portas. His solo material has been compared by the media to Iggy & The Stooges, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Primal Scream, Kasabian, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. He uses a full band for live performances, which sometimes features guest musicians from various bands.
Rockline was a nationally syndicated radio interview program hosted by Bob Coburn that was broadcast live via satellite every Monday and Wednesday night from 8:30pm-10pm PT to radio stations in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1981, it was considered to be the longest running, uninterrupted program in rock history. The main guests interviewed on the program were various musical artists of the rock genre, including both active rock artists and classic rock artists. The primary feature of the program was the ability for listeners to call live and ask questions to the guests. Several of the shows were also live performances.
dublab is a non-profit music public broadcasting internet radio station based in Los Angeles. They have also been involved with art exhibition, film projects, event production, and record releases. These Shows are archived and downloadable on the dublab website. dublab also broadcasts on KLDB-LP on 99.1 FM in Los Angeles.
Warpaint is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The band consists of Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa (drums).

"Rockstar 101" is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna from her fourth studio album, Rated R (2009). The song features the British-American guitarist Slash of the rock group Guns N' Roses. It was released on May 18, 2010, as the fifth single from the album. Rihanna wrote the song in collaboration with the producers The-Dream and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart; vocal production was carried out by Makeba Riddick. The album version is a grunge-crunk and hip hop song, while the remix EP's consist of dance, dubstep and electronic music adaptations, some of which were remixed by Dave Audé and Mark Picchiotti.
Mr. Shovel's Check One Two is a radio program that most recently aired on 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles, California from January 2016 to August 2019. The show originally aired on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles from February 2004 to January 2009. The show, which featured local and independent artists and live performances, was created by host Mr. Shovel, Indie 103.1's music director and the producer of Jonesy's Jukebox hosted by Sex Pistols member Steve Jones. Jones bestowed the nickname "Mr. Shovel" after continuously mispronouncing Sovel's real name. In 2004, Indie 103.1 was dubbed "America's Coolest Commercial Station" by Rolling Stone magazine and again voted "Best Radio Station" in 2008.
Travis Rodgers is a sports talk radio personality on Los Angeles ESPN affiliate KSPN (AM). He was the host of the Yahoo! Sports Radio program, Travis Rodgers Now, which aired weekdays 12-2pm EST. He also co-hosted the KLAA 830 AM program ESPN Morning Show with Kelvin Washington. Prior to his radio shows, he was the producer of the nationally syndicated Jim Rome Show and the ESPN television show Jim Rome is Burning.
FYF Fest was an annual three-day music festival held at the Los Angeles Exposition Park in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Sean Carlson in 2004 and later solely produced by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event showcased many genres of music, including rock, pop, indie, electronic and hip hop as well as art installations and sculptures. The festival also had its own night market where people could buy food while watching the concerts. Throughout the whole park, four stages hosted live music. There was the Main Stage, the Lawn, the Arena, and the newest installment of the Woods.
Amanda Scheer Demme is an American photographer and creative director. Previously a music supervisor, label owner, and artist manager, she is best known as a nightlife producer. Demme was described by the Los Angeles Times as an "expert at 'building a room,' choosing a precise mix of guests, sculpting space with light and shadow, and cultivating a mood something akin to performance art." She conceptualized and shot the award-winning #theemptychair image for New York magazine's 2015 cover story "Bill Cosby: The Women."
Caroline Ryder is a writer, based in Los Angeles, California, known for her work with LA Weekly, Dazed magazine and the Los Angeles Times and for co-authoring Dirty Rocker Boys, named among the "50 greatest rock memoirs of all time" by Rolling Stone magazine.
