Ghwarband

Ghwarband is a valley in the Shangla District of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

The Khans of Ghwarband valley belong to the Yousufzai and Muhammadzai (Hashtnagar) tribe. The local population are Gujjars. [1]

One sub-division of the Muhammadzai tribe is settled in Ghwarband valley. [2]

Hafiz Alpuri was born in the valley of Ghwarband. He belonged to the Mandan Yousafzai tribe. Muhammad Anwar baba, a famous Pushtun Khan, belonged to the Muhammadzai tribe of Pushtuns was also born in Ghwarband. [3]

Mohammadzai, also spelled Moḥammadzay, is a Pashtun sub-tribe or clan of the Barakzai which is part of the Durrani confederacy of tribes. They are primarily centered on Kandahar, Kabul and Ghazni in Afghanistan as well as in the city of Charsadda in neighbouring Pakistan. The Mohammadzai ruled Afghanistan from 1823 to 1978, for a total of 155 years. Their rule ended under Daoud Khan when the Communists took power via a Soviet-backed coup.

Abdur Rahmān Momand or Rahmān Bābā, was a renowned Pashtun Sufi Saint, member of Sufi Dervish and poet from Peshawar during the Mughal era. He, along with his contemporary Khushal Khan Khattak, is considered to be one of the most popular poets of the Pashto language. His poetry expresses the mystical side of Islam, in line with his Sufi-oriented nature.

Bāyazīd Khān Ansārī, commonly known as Pīr Rōshān or Pīr Rōkhān, was an Ormur Pashtun warrior, Sufi poet and revolutionary leader. He wrote mostly in Pashto, but also in Persian, Hindustani and Arabic. His mother tongue was Ormuri. He is known for founding the Roshani movement, which gained many followers in present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan, and produced numerous Pashto poets and writers.

Pirpiai is a town in the District of Nowshera in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Its population is around 35,000. Pirpiai has a high literacy rate of 92%, compared with Pakistan's average literacy rate of 55%. The village is on GT Road, 8 km from Nowshera Cantonment towards Peshawar. Most of the villagers are working-folk, adding to the work-pool through government service, and self-employment. Substantial number of people from the village are working abroad and adding to national exchequer. The village is rich in producing educated and professional class like engineers, doctors, officers of armed forces, civil servants, professors and so on.

Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao, simply known as Hayat Sherpao, was a left-wing intellectual and socialist, who served as the 15th Governor of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, as well as vice-chairman of Pakistan People's Party. Sherpao held important executive offices, including serving as the Interior minister and had held a number of provincial ministries of the North West Frontier Province. He was assassinated in 1975, and his death was blamed on a rival political party in the province - the Awami National Party of Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

The Barakzai dynasty, also known as the Muhammadzai dynasty, ruled modern-day Afghanistan from 1823 to 1978 when the monarchy ended de jure under Musahiban Mohammad Zahir Shah and de facto under his cousin Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan. The Barakzai dynasty was established by Dost Mohammad Khan after the Durrani dynasty of Ahmad Shah Durrani was removed from power. As the Pahlavi era in Iran, the Muhammadzai era was known for its progressivist modernity, practice of Sufism, peaceful security and neutrality in which Afghanistan was referred to as the "Switzerland of Asia".

He was called Hafiz-e- Alpuri because he had learnt the Quran by heart and belonged to village Alpuri, a beautiful valley in District Shangla Pakistan. He is famous for his collection of poetry called Dewan-e- Hafiz-e- Alpuri.
