Gianluigi Coppola

Gianluigi Coppola (Chiavari, 16 April 1928 - Genoa, 24 August 2015) was an Italian illustrator and cartoonist. [1] [2] [3]

Biography

After completing art high school, in 1949 he moved to Milan where he began to illustrate for Goal, a comic book published by the Gazzetta dello Sport; he then collaborated with authors such as Ferdinando Tacconi in the Nat del Santa Cruz series and Franco Paludetti in the Sciuscià series.

He moved to England in 1956, where for over twenty years he worked as a draftsman creating various series such as Billy the Kid published in Sun , and others such as Scoop Donovan and Battler Britton . [4]

In the early 1960s, he stopped working as a cartoonist to devote himself to the illustration of books for Penguin Books, as well as making covers for novels published by various publishing houses such as Corgi, Fontana, Collins, Pan, and Granada. He also dedicated himself to advertising collaborating with periodicals such as Forum , The Observer , and Psychology Today . [4]

He returned to Italy in 1979 where he began collaborating with Arnoldo Mondadori with illustrations for classic novels for boys as well as covers of the Oscar series. He also collaborated with the magazines Playboy and Penthouse . Returning to work on comics in 1990, he realized for the Sergio Bonelli Editore some stories of the Dylan Dog and Martin Mystère series; after this experience, he returned to devote himself to illustration and painting. Eric Gurney (1910–1992) was a Canadian-American cartoonist and illustrator. He immigrated to the US in 1938 to work with Walt Disney Productions, where he was a story writer and a collaborator on several Disney films. Turning freelance in 1948, he did cartoon illustrations for magazines and advertising campaigns. Gurney is well known for his humorous illustrations in books for children and adults. He received the National Cartoonists Society Advertising and Illustration Award for 1961 and 1971 for his work.

Sergio Bonelli Editore is a publishing house of Italian comics founded in 1940 by Gian Luigi Bonelli (1908–2001). It takes its name from its former president, comic book writer Sergio Bonelli (1932–2011), son of Gian Luigi.

Tiziano Sclavi

Tiziano Sclavi is an Italian comic book author, journalist and writer of several novels. Sclavi is most famous as creator of the comic book Dylan Dog in 1986, for Italian publishing house Sergio Bonelli Editore. More than 300 issues have appeared in the series, which has sold millions of copies. It has been in collaboration with several artists, including Claudio Villa, Corrado Roi, Gustavo Trigo, Carlo Ambrosini, Luigi Piccatto, Angelo Stano, Mike Mignola, Andrea Venturi, Giampiero Casertano and Bruno Brindisi.

Claudio Villa is an Italian comics artist who has primarily worked with Sergio Bonelli Editore, and is currently involved in illustrating several books in the Tex Willer comic series. He has mostly drawn covers since number 400th, but sometimes also draws stories, such as Tex #501 - 504.

The International Cartoonists Exhibition is an annual art exhibition held in Rapallo, Liguria, Italy. Founded in 1972, it was one of the earliest Italian exhibitions devoted to comics. Conceived in order to popularize and increase the importance of work done by comic authors, it was the first exhibition of its kind to display original artwork. Andrea Bresciani

Andrea Bresciani (29 January 1923 – 7 February 2006 was an Italian-born comics artist, illustrator, and animator. Of Slovenian origin, he was born Dušan Brešan in Tolmino and emigrated to Australia in 1950. Amongst his works were the Italian comic book series Geky Dor and Tony Falco and the widely syndicated Australian series Frontiers of Science. In the latter part of his career he worked as a film and television animator for Hanna-Barbera and Marvel Productions. Bresciani died in Malvern, Australia at the age of 83.
