Gilbert Olanya is a Ugandan politician who served as a member of the Ugandan Parliament representing Kilak South on the ticket of the Forum for Democratic Change. [1] [2] [3]
Olanya studied Bachelor of Arts in Education under scholarship,and graduated from Uganda Christian University in 2000.
Olanya was elected to the parliament from Kilak South on the ticket of FDC. He is a member of Acholi Parliamentary Group and serves as Secretary General of the group (APG). During the election of Speaker in the 11th parliament,he opposed the endorsement of Omoro county legislator Jacob Oulanyah for the office of speaker [4] by APG warning that such endorsement could lead to sectarian and tribal politics which would affect APG if the endorsed candidate fails to win. In June 2020,Olanya was arrested and detained along with a colleague,Samuel Odonga Otto representing Aruu South,and two other persons for staging a protest against the handling of COVID-19 by Gulu Hospital. [5] They were charged with incitement to violence and negligent acts likely to cause the spread of infectious diseases. [6]
Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 until 21 May 2021. She currently serves as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda. She concurrently serves as Minister for East African Community Affairs,in the Cabinet of Uganda.
Jacob L'Okori Oulanyah was a Ugandan agricultural economist,lawyer,and politician,who served as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda from 2021 to 2022. He was elected to that position on 24 May 2021,after defeating his tenacious rival the then incumbent Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. He served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan parliament,from May 2011 until May 2021. Oulanyah was also the member of parliament representing the Omoro County constituency,Omoro District,Acholi sub-region,in the Uganda's Northern Region.

Anita Annet Among is a Ugandan accountant,lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022. She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency,the same position she held in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Parliament. She is named in the torture complaint against the Ugandan government that was submitted with the International Criminal Court.
