Gilberto Silvestre Lopes (born 30 May 1989) is a Brazilian long distance runner who specialises in the marathon. [1] He competed in the marathon event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China. [2]

He has a twin brother, Gilmar Silvestre Lopes, who is also an international long-distance runner. [3]

His personal best of 2:04:33 hours, set in 2015, ranks him in the world's top 15 athletes for the distance. In April 2016, he won the Boston Marathon.
