Princeton is a borough in Mercer County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was established on January 1,2013,through the consolidation of the Borough of Princeton and Princeton Township,both of which are now defunct. As of the 2020 United States census,the borough's population was 30,681,an increase of 2,109 (+7.4%) from the 2010 census combined count of 28,572. In the 2000 census,the two communities had a total population of 30,230,with 14,203 residents in the borough and 16,027 in the township.

Thomas Howard Kean Jr. is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative from New Jersey's 7th congressional district since 2023. He represented New Jersey's 21st legislative district in the New Jersey Senate from 2003 to 2022,serving as minority leader from 2008 to 2022. A member of the Republican Party,Kean is the son of former New Jersey governor Thomas Kean.
New Jersey's 7th congressional district includes all of Hunterdon and Warren Counties;and parts of Morris,Somerset,Sussex,and Union Counties. The district is represented by Republican Thomas Kean Jr.,who was first elected in 2022,defeating Democratic incumbent Tom Malinowski.
The 2009 New Jersey gubernatorial election took place on November 3,2009. Incumbent Democratic Governor Jon Corzine ran for a second term against Republican Chris Christie,Independent Christopher Daggett,and nine others,in addition to several write-in candidates. Christie won the election,with about 48.5 percent of the vote,to 44.9 percent for Corzine and 5.8 percent for Daggett. He assumed office on January 19,2010. This was the first election to fill the newly created office of lieutenant governor,with the candidates for governor choosing their running mates. Kim Guadagno,Christie's running mate,became New Jersey's first lieutenant governor following her inauguration.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of New Jersey on November 3,2009. Primary elections were held on June 2. The 2017 New Jersey gubernatorial election was held on November 7,2017,to elect a new governor of New Jersey. Incumbent Republican Governor Chris Christie was term-limited and could not seek a third consecutive term.
The 1981 New Jersey gubernatorial election was held November 3,1981. Republican Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly Thomas Kean narrowly defeated Democratic U.S. Representative James Florio,49.46%-49.38,following a recount. Kean's margin of victory was 1,797 votes out of more than two million votes cast. As of 2024,the 1981 gubernatorial election remains the closest gubernatorial contest in New Jersey history.
The 2018 United States Senate election in New Jersey took place on November 6,2018,in order to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of New Jersey. Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Bob Menendez won reelection to a third term over Republican businessman Bob Hugin,after the former's criminal trial ended in a mistrial.
Vin Gopal is an American Democratic politician who took office on January 9,2018,to represent the 11th Legislative District in the New Jersey Senate,which covers portions of Monmouth County. Prior to his election to the Senate,Gopal served as Chairman of the Monmouth County Democratic Party.
The 2017 New Jersey State Senate elections were held on November 7,2017,to elect Senators for all 40 legislative districts across New Jersey. These elections coincided with the election of Governor Phil Murphy. The winners of this election would serve in the 218th New Jersey Legislature,with seats apportioned based on the 2010 United States census. The Democratic Party grew its majority in the Senate,with incumbent Senate President Steve Sweeney re-elected to the top leadership post. Republican Thomas Kean,Jr. continued to lead his party as Minority Leader. This was the first state Senate election cycle in 10 years where any party flipped a Senate seat.
The 2021 New Jersey gubernatorial election was held on November 2,2021,to elect the governor of New Jersey. Incumbent governor Phil Murphy was first elected in 2017 with 56% of the vote and won re-election to a second term. Murphy and his running mate,Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver,defeated the Republican ticket of Jack Ciattarelli and Diane Allen,51.2% to 48%.
The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in New Jersey were held on November 3,2020,to elect the 12 U.S. representatives from the state of New Jersey,one from each of the state's 12 congressional districts. The primary election in which candidates were chosen took place on July 7,2020. The general election coincided with the 2020 U.S. presidential election,as well as other elections to the House of Representatives,elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections.
The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in New Jersey were held on November 8,2022,to elect the 12 U.S. representatives from the state of New Jersey,one from each of the state's 12 congressional districts.
