Giritee Loabi is a Maldivian romantic comedy drama web series written by Ahmed Zareer and directed by Ali Shifau. It stars Mohamed Manik, Aminath Rashfa, Mohamed Vishal and Adam Rizwee in main roles. The pilot episode of the series was released on 7 December 2021. [1]

Noora, the only child of a Sattaru attempts to convince her boyfriend, Faizan, who works at a private firm, to get approval from her father with regard to their relationship, while her supervisor, Ashraf is flattered with her beauty.

Faizan is too reticent in front of Sattaru which disappoints Noora, though she agrees to give him one last chance to prove his courageousness. Ultimately, the company offers him a job at Addu City, which further concerns him.

Development

The project was officially announced on 11 July 2021 on Dark Rain Entertainment's Facebook page. [2] Filming for the series commenced in August 2021 with the actors, Mohamed Vishal, Aminath Rashfa, Mohamed Manik, Mohamed Faisal and Adam Rizwee. [3] Filming was completed in October 2021. [4]

Release and reception

On 22 September 2021, Dark Rain Entertainment announced that the series will be premiered digitally on Baiskoafu at the end of year. [5] The first episode of the series was initially slated to release on 20 November 2021, which was later pushed to premiere on 7 December 2021. [6] [7]

Ahmed Shakir is a Maldivian actor and editor. He initial worked with the Dark Rain Entertainment team in technical department, prior to starring in small roles from the production company including the romantic comedies Vaashey Mashaa Ekee (2016), Mee Loaybakee (2017) and Vakin Loabin (2018). He had his breakthrough performance in another production from Dark Rain Entertainment, the comedy film Maamui (2019) in which he portrayed a dangerous gangster. Following this success, he continued working in several web series including the comedy sitcom Rumi á Jannat, the romantic comedy Giritee Loabi and the revenge thriller anthology Dark Rain Chronicles.

The series was distributed by Medianet Multi-Screen and directed by Ali Shifau and Mohamed Faisal. With a cast starring Abdullah Shafiu Ibrahim, Nuzuhath Shuaib, Sheela Najeeb and Roanu Hassan Manik the show revolves on the initial days after the wedding of a couple who are distinctly different worldviews and personalities. The first episode titled Assalaam Alaikum featuring Adam Rizwee and Sharaf Abdulla, follows a protective son avenging a scammer for the death of his mother. The second episode titled Fureytha features Aishath Yaadha as a helpless wife committing a heinous crime against her abusive husband.

Ahmed Zareer is a Maldivian screenwriter, director and producer. He initially gained recognition for his collaborative work with screenwriter Mahdi Ahmed, during which they co-wrote screenplays for several projects, including the action masala film Ahsham (2015), family drama Vee Beyvafa (2016) and the crime anthology web series Hatharu Halha (2019). Following disputes during the pre-production stage of the suspense thriller film Vishka (2017), Zareer ventured into independent work, contributing to the screenplay of the thriller film Leena (2019), romantic drama Andhirikan (2020) and political thriller film Maryam (2021), where he also took on the role of co-producer. Later in his career, Zareer expanded his professional portfolio by directing Beeveema, which was released in 2023.
