"Girlfriend" is a song by British rock band the Darkness, released as the third and final single from their second studio album, One Way Ticket to Hell... And Back . Released on 22 May 2006, it was the band's last single before their five-year disbandment later that year. The song is written from the perspective of a man who has cheated on his girlfriend with another woman. He tells his now angry girlfriend in the first verse that the other girl meant nothing to him. In the second verse he admits that the relationship is over and his once girlfriend is now his ex. The music video for the song is inspired by the film Flashdance . The song charted at number 39 on the UK Singles Chart. This was the band's lowest charting single since 2003 single "Get Your Hands off My Woman".

The Darkness are a British rock band formed in Lowestoft, England. The band consists of Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Rufus Tiger Taylor.

He was also the lead singer and guitarist for the band Hot Leg, formed in 2008 and now on hiatus. His falsetto voice has been described as operatic and very similar to that of Queen's Freddie Mercury.

Hot Leg were an English rock band led by The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins. The band consisted of Hawkins, Pete Rinaldi, Samuel SJ Stokes and Darby Todd. Their debut album Red Light Fever was recorded in London in early 2008, and was released on 9 February 2009 by Barbecue Rock Records.

It also reached No. 36 in Ireland and No. 39 in Australia. The music video for the song features a parody of the popular Flake girl advert, which was a popular advertisement for the chocolate bar. Little Mix are a British girl group, consisting of group members Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Former member Jesy Nelson departed from the group in December 2020. The group rose to prominence in 2011 after winning the eighth series of The X Factor. The group's music style is pop, R&B and dance-pop, with influences from other genres such as tropical house, latin pop, and electronic music. Their lyrics are often centered around feminism, gender equality, body positivity, LGBTQ+ rights and sexism.

Hot Cakes is the third studio album by British rock band the Darkness, released on 20 August 2012 on Canary Dwarf Records. Produced by Nick Brine and band members Justin and Dan Hawkins, the album is the band's first since their 2011 reunion, and the first to feature founding bassist Frankie Poullain since the release of Permission to Land in 2003. It is also the last album to feature all 4 original members, after Ed Graham's departure in 2014. Despite not being released until 20 August, the album was made available to stream on the Rolling Stone website on 14 August.
