Git Fresh (formerly known as DeepSide) is an American R&B and hip hop group based in Miami, Florida. They are currently signed to Island Def Jam. The group was initially composed of Rude Boi, Pretty Sly, Penny, & Mike Ezay.

History

Early years: DeepSide

The group started out and formed when all the band members were in their teenage years, singing at talent shows and parties around the city. With the exception of Pretty Sly, who went to school in Miami, they all went to Dillard Performing Arts School. Rude Boi met Sly at a local talent show in Miami and introduced him to Mike and Penny. There was an immediate chemistry between the guys and they officially formed the group, DeepSide. Formerly signed to Jive Records, the group known as DeepSide changed their name after splitting from the label, and all old ties.

Git Fresh

The group changed their name from DeepSide to Git Fresh in 2008. They also have changed record labels from Jive Records to Def Jam. Unfortunately, the singers, Brent "Penny" Pendergast & Mike "Ezay" Espinosa, have reportedly left the group. As of 2012, It is uncertain if the 2 remaining members will continue as a group.

The television special honors old school and golden age hip hop rappers and contributors for their long-term influence and importance in the history of hip hop culture. It features live performances by most of the honorees along with new artists who have been influenced by them in tribute. The show is taped at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, New York City.

Play-N-Skillz are a Latin/American record production/DJ group duo from Dallas, Texas, consisting of brothers Juan "Play" Salinas and Oscar "Skillz" Salinas. Their production has won several Grammys including the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2007 for their production on the single "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone, and the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III (2008), which included their production on the single "Got Money". By 2011, the duo brought their music to the EDM scene, and crossed paths with David Guetta, who also saw a similar need. 2 Live Crew is an American hip hop group from Miami, Florida, which had its greatest commercial success from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The group's most well-known line up was composed of Luke Campbell, Fresh Kid Ice, Mr. Mixx, and Brother Marquis. They were considerably controversial in the U.S. due to the sexually explicit content in their songs, particularly on their 1989 album As Nasty as They Wanna Be. They were frequently challenged for their sexually explicit lyrics.
