Gita Kamath, an Australian diplomat, is the High Commissioner of Australia to South Africa, since March 2019.

Background and career

Kamath graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, University of New South Wales; a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, University of Technology Sydney; and a Master of Arts (Foreign Affairs and Trade), from the Australian National University. [1] She commenced her career practicing as a lawyer with Clayton Utz. [2]

Kamath is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

She was the Ashley Fellow 2011 at Trent University.

Peter David McClellan is a retired judge of the New South Wales Court of Appeal who served between February 2013 and February 2018. McClellan was the Chief Royal Commissioner of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse from January 2013 to December 2017.
