It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 16,698, down from 17,467 in the 2010 census.

Frederick Antwon Taylor is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons during the 1990s and 2000s. He played college football for the University of Florida, and he was recognized as an All-American. Taylor was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the ninth overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, and he played for the Jaguars and New England Patriots of the NFL. Taylor is a member of the 10,000 yard rushing club; his 4.6 yards per carry is sixth highest among members of the club in history.

State Road 812 (SR 812) is a short west–east state highway located north of Belle Glade, Palm Beach County, Florida. Known as Hooker Highway, it forms a portion of a truck bypass around Belle Glade. It connects with SR 715 at its western terminus and with US 98, US 441, SR 15, and SR 80 at its eastern terminus. The highway is a two-lane road and was named in honor of Walter R. Hooker.
Atlantic Community High School is a public high school located in Delray Beach, Florida, United States. It is part of the School District of Palm Beach County. Known for its academics, many students attend due to the school's International Baccalaureate program and its ranking as a top-rated school for many years. In the 2010 Newsweek ranking of America's best high schools, Atlantic High ranked 89th. In 2005, the school moved to its current location and added a freshman academy and a construction-oriented magnet program.
Antone Smith is a former American football running back. He played high school football for Pahokee. Smith was considered an All American 5 star running back and was named Mr.Florida. He went on to play college football at Florida State. Smith was signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He has also been a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He committed to Michigan prior to his high school junior season, but decommitted following the season and committed to Florida State Seminoles, where he used three years of eligibility before graduating. He has also accepted an invitation to participate in the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game. In 2020, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL).
Kelvin Benjamin is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Florida State and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He also played for the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
