Glamorgan Police RFC was a Welsh rugby union team that served the Glamorgan Police force before the amalgamation of the four district police forces of South Wales in 1969. The team was the most notable of the four early police rugby teams of Wales, supplying several notable players to the Wales national team.
The first police teams in Glamorgan played each other in 1892 at Llwynypia, when Rhondda Police and Cardiff Borough Police. [1] This match was followed by the creation of the Canton Divisional Police team, led by Captain Lionel Lindsay, the Chief Constable of the Glamorgan force. [2] The Canton Divisional team comprised the forces from Vale of Glamorgan, Barry, Penarth and Cardiff districts, and their most notable player was Dai Evans, who as well as representing the police he also turned out for Penygraig RFC. In 1896 Evans was capped, becoming the first international player from the Canton Divisional side. [1]
In 1897 the Glamorgan Police RFC was founded, with Lindsay as chairman. William Rees was made captain and Dai Evans was made vice-captain. [3] At the end of the 1897 season, three new international players joined the club, Bill Alexander of Glynneath, Bob Jones of Llwynypia and Alfred Brice of Aberavon.

In 2012, they withdrew from the Welsh league system due to lack of players, they will continue to play in police competitions and may return to the Welsh league in the future.
Richard Hellings was an English-born Welsh rugby union forward who played international rugby for Wales and club rugby for Llwynypia. Hellings was noted for his strength built from years cutting coal as a Rhondda miner. Hellings later played rugby for Cardiff, Exeter and Devon.
Corus Rugby Football Club was a Welsh rugby union clubs based in Port Talbot. It is now known as Tata Steel RFC, the club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Ospreys.
Albert Hybart JP was a Welsh rugby union forward who played club rugby for Canton Wanderers RFC, Canton RFC, Cardiff and international rugby for Wales.
David 'Dai' Henry Lewis was a Welsh rugby union forward who played club rugby for Canton RFC and Cardiff and international rugby for Wales. After his career as a football player he was active as a racing cyclist in the United States.
Llwynypia RFC was a rugby union club located in the Welsh village of Llwynypia in the Rhondda. The team provided several international players during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, most notably Willie Llewellyn, who was not only selected to represent Wales while playing at the club, but later played for the British Isles on their 1904 tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Thomas Williams was a Welsh rugby union forward who played club rugby for Cardiff and Pontypridd and international rugby for Wales. A solicitor by profession, Williams would later become a national selector for the Welsh Rugby Union. Williams was also responsible for suggesting the singing of the Welsh national anthem in a match in 1905, the first time a national anthem was sung before a sporting event.
David "Dai" Fitzgerald was a Welsh rugby centre who played club rugby under the union code for Cardiff, and later switched to professional rugby league team Batley (captain). He played international rugby union for Wales winning two caps, and in his first match for Wales scored all the points in a victory over Scotland.

Glamorgan County RFC is a Welsh rugby union club that manages an invitational team, known as Glamorgan that originally played rugby at county level. The team is made up of amateur players from sports clubs in the Glamorgan region and historically played matches against other county teams from Wales and England, and during the 20th century was a key fixture for touring international teams. Today the club manages Glamorgan's premier rugby union tournament, the Glamorgan County Silver Ball Trophy, and arranges invitational Glamorgan teams to face Welsh rugby clubs during celebrations, such as anniversaries.
Robert Francis "Bobbie" Williams was a Welsh international rugby union player. At club level he played for Canton RFC, Cardiff RFC and the Barbarians, and was selected on four occasions for Wales.
