Glen Abernethy (born 1971 [1] ) is a territorial level politician from Northwest Territories, Canada.

Abernethy ran as a candidate in the Great Slave electoral district in the 2007 Northwest Territories general election. He defeated four other candidates winning the district with 43% of the popular vote to earn his first term in office. [2] He represented the district until the 2019 Northwest Territories general election, when he retired from politics and did not stand for reelection.

1st Council of the Northwest Territories

The 1st Council of the North-West Territories also known as the North-West Council in Canada lasted from October 7, 1876, to 1888. It was created as a permanent replacement to the Temporary North-West Council which existed prior to 1876 and was replaced by the 1st North-West assembly when the quota of elected members was reached. The numerical denomination 1st was applied when the 2nd Council of the Northwest Territories was created to differentiate between the two councils.
