Wake County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census,its population was 1,129,410,making it North Carolina's most populous county. From July 2005 to July 2006,Wake County was the 9th-fastest growing county in the United States,with Cary and Raleigh being the 8th- and 15th-fastest growing communities,respectively.
Apex is a town in Wake County,North Carolina,United States. At its southern border,Apex encompasses the community of Friendship. Nancy Pletcher McFarlane is an American pharmacist and politician. She served as the 61st mayor of Raleigh,North Carolina,the state capital. She was elected to lead the city in the 2011 election,and succeeded Charles Meeker,who had declined to run for re-election to another term. McFarlane is a political independent but ran with the endorsement of the local Democratic Party. She was re-elected for three further terms,in 2013,2015,and 2017,but declined to run for re-election in 2019.
Flagship Airlines Flight 3379 was a scheduled flight under the American Eagle branding from Piedmont Triad International Airport to Raleigh–Durham International Airport during which a British Aerospace Jetstream crashed while executing a missed approach to the Raleigh–Durham International Airport on the evening of Tuesday,December 13,1994. The two pilots and 13 passengers died in the crash;five passengers survived with serious injuries.
Greg Evan Lindberg is an American former business executive and founder of Global Growth,a conglomerate private-equity firm. He also donated large sums of money to political causes. In 2020 he was convicted of bribery and conspiracy to commit wire fraud,and sentenced to seven years and three months in federal prison. The conviction was overturned by a federal appeals court in June 2022 and a new trial was scheduled for March 2023.
Sri Venkateswara Temple of North Carolina is a Hindu Temple located in Cary,North Carolina and serves the estimated 21,000 Hindus in the Research Triangle area. The temple is "dedicated to promoting the Hindu religion and humanitarian services across the Triangle."
