The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at Commonwealth Stadium. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos and have won the Grey Cup championship fourteen times, most recently in 2015 and the most of any CFL club based in Western Canada. The team has a rivalry with the Calgary Stampeders and is one of the three community-owned teams in the CFL. The team discontinued using the Eskimos name in 2020, with the new name Elks formally announced on June 1, 2021.

Almondo Sewell is an American former gridiron football defensive tackle and is the defensive line coach for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Akron and attended Hargrave Military Academy before transferring to Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey. He has also been a member of the Edmonton Eskimos and Montreal Alouettes of the CFL and Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League (AFL).
Jason James Lamar is a former American football linebacker who played one season with the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Toledo and attended Ypsilanti High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Don also contributed to Canadian football as a coach in Edmonton: St. Joseph’s High School; St. Anthony’s College, Edmonton Huskies, Edmonton Wildcats, and the University of Alberta Golden Bears. He was proud to have been a guest coach in the 1987 CFL Players Association All-Star Game. He was married to Susan Kay Middlemiss in 1991. They later retired to Canmore, Alberta where he died in 2014.
Rollin Wayne "Rollie" Prather was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He won the Grey Cup with them in 1954. Born in Eureka, Kansas, the son of Raymond Lealand and Irene (Bailey) Prather, he previously played football at and attended Kansas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology. In 1980, Prather was working as a geologist and served as vice-president of Columbia Gas Development of Canada, Ltd., residing in Edmonton. Prather died at his home in Calgary in 1996.
Glenn Simpson "Keeper" McWhinney was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He won the Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 1954. McWhinney's football career was ended in 1956 when he sustained a broken neck. He later joined the Blue Bombers as a scout from 1956 to 1958. McWhinney also played basketball in the Winnipeg Men's Senior League. He died in 2012; a park in Winnipeg is named after him.
Thomas Warren Muecke, Jr. was an American football quarterback who played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Edmonton Eskimos and Shreveport Pirates. He played college football at Baylor University and attended Angleton High School in Angleton, Texas. He was also a member of the Houston Oilers and Calgary Stampeders.
Ted Milian is a former Canadian football center who played six seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders. He was a territorial exemption of the Edmonton Eskimos in the 1976 CFL Draft. He played CIS football college football at the University of Manitoba.
Derel Walker is an American professional gridiron football wide receiver who is a free agent. He most recently played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was named a CFL All-Star in 2015 and 2016 and received the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2015. He is a Grey Cup champion after winning the 103rd Grey Cup with the Edmonton Eskimos in his rookie year. He previously attended Texas A&M University where he played college football for the Aggies.
