Goddert von Oheimb is a biologist and nature conservation scientist. He is professor for Biodiversity and Nature Conservation at TU Dresden.
Von Oheimb studied bioloy and graduated with a diploma in 1996 from University of Göttingen. He than worked as scientist at the Department of World Forestry at University of Hamburg and the Institute of World Forestry, Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products (Thünen BFH). From 2000 to 2003 he worked at the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Chemistry at the University of Lüneburg. [1]
In 2002 he received a Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Hamburg ("Influence of forestry use on the biodiversity and species composition of vascular plants in North German deciduous forests"). [2] He than worked than as post-doc and associate professor at the University of Lüneburg until 2014. In 2006 he had his habilitation in ecology. Since 2014 he is professor for Biodiversity and Nature Conservation at TU Dresden. [1]
Von Oheimb is analysing biodiversity and the causes of their change as well as studying and assessing conflicts of land use and synergies between nature conservation and forestry. [3] His interests are in Phytodiversity, functional diversity and conservation strategies.
