Golchhe Sarki was a Nepalese politician, hailing from the Dalit community. In 1988 the Utpidit Jatiya Utthan Manch was formed with Sarki as its president. [1] In the 1991 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist). During his tenure as MP, he became famous for attacking the minister Ram Chandra Poudel with his shoe in the assembly. [2]
In 1992, Sarki was reelected as president of the Utpidit Jatiya Utthan Manch. [1]
When the CPN(UML) was divided in 1998, Sarki joined the Communist Party of Nepal (ML). He rejoined CPN(UML) in 2002, as the two parties reunified. [3]
Golchhe supported the royal takeover on February 1, 2005. As a consequence, he was expelled from the party on March 14, 2005. In July 2005, he was appointed Assistant Minister for Transport Management by King Gyanendra. Golchhe commented his appointment by saying that "My nomination is an honour for the whole Dalit society". [4] In December 2005, as the cabinet was reshuffled, he was appointed Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare. [2]
Golchhe died on December 29, 2006. [3]

Constituent Assembly elections were held in Nepal on 10 April 2008, having been postponed from earlier dates of 7 June 2007 and 22 November 2007. The Constituent Assembly was planned to draft a new constitution and therefore decide, amongst other things, on the issue of federalism. The number of eligible voters was around 17.5 million. The Constituent Assembly was originally set to have a term of two years.

The Nepal Communist Party, abbreviated NCP was founded on 17 May 2018, from the unification of two leftist parties, Communist Party of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal. The unification was completed by the Party Unification Coordination Committee, after eight months of negotiation. The two predecessor parties subsequently dissolved, making way for the new united party. The party retained the electoral symbol of the CPN, the sun.
Salim Miya Ansari is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal from the Bara-4 constituency. Ansari won with 20148 votes against 16145 votes for Pharmulaha Mansur of the Nepali Congress. Ansari served as Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation in the CPN(UML) government formed in 1994. When the CPN(UML) was divided in 1998, Ansari joined the Communist Party of Nepal (ML), and later became Minister of Tourism in the coalition government. When CPN(ML) and CPN(UML) reunited, Ansari again became a CPN(UML) leader.
Binod Kumar Shah is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party from the Dailekh-2 constituency. Shah won with 13640 votes against 6725 votes for Ranga Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress. Shah later joined the Communist Party of Nepal along with his entire team in the districts of Bheri and Karnali zones, which caused a rift between NWPP and CPN(UML). In July 2005, he was appointed Assistant Minister for Water Resource by King Gyanendra. Now, he has been engaging in politics of Nepal being as a Central Committee member of Nepal Communist Party.
The 1st Nepalese Constituent Assembly was a unicameral body of 601 members that served from May 28, 2008 to May 28, 2012. It was formed as a result of the first Constituent Assembly election held on April 10, 2008. The Constituent Assembly was tasked with writing a new constitution, and acting as the interim legislature for a term of two years. 240 members were elected in single-seat constituencies, 335 were elected through proportional representation, and the remaining 26 seats were reserved for nominated members.

Nepal Utpidit Dalit Jatiya Mukti Samaj is a Nepalese Dalit movement. The organization emerged in the wake of the 1990 democracy movement as the major Dalit movement in the country. Nepal Udpidit Dalit Jatiya Mukti Samaj was founded in 1992, through the merger of two previous organizations - the Nepal Rastriya Dalit Jana Bikas Parishad and the Utpidit Jatiya Utthan Manch.

Bidya Devi Bhandari is a Nepalese politician, serving as the 2nd President of Nepal, in office since 28 October 2015. She is the first woman to hold the office in the country. She served as the vice-chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal and was the chair of the All Nepal Women's Association before being elected president. She is accused of being supportive to Oli and CPN(UML) while in office.
Padam Sundas is a Nepalese social worker and activist for Dalit communities in Nepal. Known as the "Guardian of the Dalits", Sundas has published a number of short stories, poems, and articles related to social justice and political reform. He has published two books of his own and over 25 books written by writers from Dalit and non-Dalit communities with the help of Ratna Maya Dalit Sahitya Samrakshan Samiti, of which he is a trustee.
