Club Champion – Jamie Stanton "Jamie was consistent across the whole year. She tried to lead by example. For her to be recognised by people outside our club as well in the All-Australian squad was a great reward. She also formed some great bonds with some of the younger players."
LAUREN Ahrens has been crowned the Suns' 2021 AFLW Club Champion after a stellar season in defence. Ahrens led the vote count from Round 2 onwards and didn't relinquish the lead to finish on 238 votes.
The 19-year-old midfielder, in just her second campaign in the elite women's competition, was named the Gold Coast's club champion at an awards ceremony on the weekend in a season which took the orange and red outfit from cellar dwellers to top eight dark horses.
