Provinces are the first-level administrative divisions of the Republic of Indonesia. It is formerly called the first-level provincial region provinsi daerah tingkat I) before the Reform era. Provinces have a local government, consisting of a governor and a regional legislative body. The governor and members of local representative bodies are elected by popular vote for five-year terms, but governors can only serve for two terms. Provincial governments have the authority to regulate and manage their own government affairs, subject to the limits of the central government.
Central Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia located at the centre of the island of Sulawesi. The administrative capital and largest city is located in Palu. The province borders the provinces of Gorontalo to the east, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi to the south, and sharing maritime borders with East Kalimantan to the west, North Maluku to the east, and Malaysia and the Philippines to the north. The 2010 census recorded a population of 2,635,009 for the province, and the 2020 Census recorded 2,985,734, of whom 1,534,706 were male and 1,451,028 were female. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 3,066,143. Central Sulawesi has an area of 61,605.72 km2 (23,786 sq mi), the largest area among all provinces on Sulawesi Island, and has the second-largest population on Sulawesi Island after the province of South Sulawesi. It is bordered by the provinces of Gorontalo to the north, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi and South East Sulawesi to the south, by Maluku to the east, and by the Makassar Strait to the west. The province is inhabited by many ethnic groups, such as the Kaili, Tolitoli, etc. The official language of the province is Indonesian, which is used for official purposes and inter-ethnic communication, while there are several indigenous language spoken by the Indigenous peoples of Central Sulawesi. Islam is the dominant religion in the province, followed by Christianity which is mostly adhered to by the people in the eastern part of the province.
North Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia. It is located on the Minahasa Peninsula of the island of Sulawesi, south of the Philippines and southeast of Sabah, Malaysia. Gorontalo is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 1959 under Law Number 29/1959, but has subsequently been reduced in area as additional regencies have been cut out of it. It now has an area of 2,125.47 km2 and had a population of 355,988 at the 2010 Census and 393,107 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 398,801. The administrative headquarters of the regency is in the town of Limboto.
Jalaluddin Airport, formerly known as Tolotio Airport, is an airport in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo, Indonesia. It is located 30 km west of Gorontalo's city center. It is operated by Ministry of Transportation. The new terminal, which has 2 aerobridges, was opened on 1 May 2016. This airport is the alternative gateway for flights to the northern part of Indonesia. The airport is named after Djalaluddin Tantu, a colonel of the Indonesian Air Force from Gorontalo, who died during the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation in Malaysia when his C-130 Hercules was shot down.

It covers an area of 4,043.57 km2, and had a population of 132,330 at the 2010 Census; and 145,254 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 148,246. The administrative centre is the town of Buol, in Biau District.

It was established in 2007 under Law Number 11/2007 from the former northern districts of Gorontalo Regency. The new regency has an area of 1,777.02 km2, and it had a population of 104,133 at the 2010 Census and 124,957 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 128,563. Its regency seat is the town of Moluo in Kwandang District.
