Gosling (previously known as Loudermilk) was an American rock band formed in Tri-Cities, Washington. The band was composed of Davey Ingersoll (vocals, guitar), Mark Watrous (guitar, later keyboards), Shane Middleton (bass) and Isaac Carpenter (drums, percussion). As Loudermilk, formed in 1995, the group released two albums; the independently released Man with Gun Kills Three! (1998) and then major label debut The Red Record (2002), and toured with Megadeth and Mötley Crüe. Loudermilk appeared in an episode of Dawson's Creek (Season 6, Episode 12) under the stylized name "LoudMilk" performing "Rock 'N' Roll & The Teenage Desperation" on stage. They also performed "Elekt" on the TV show Charmed .[ citation needed ]

The group later, in 2004, changed both their name and music style and were then known as Gosling. They went on to release a self titled EP, through The Control Group in 2004 and their final album, Here Is... , through V2, in 2006. They played shows with Velvet Revolver and Rose Hill Drive before eventually disbanding.

History

Loudermilk (1995–2004)

In 1995, [1] friends Davey Ingersoll (vocals, guitar), Mark Watrous (guitar), Shane Middleton (bass) and Issac Carpenter (drums) formed the hard rock quartet Loudermilk [2] [3] in Tri-Cities, Washington. [1] [4] They released their own album, Man with Gun Kills Three!, independently in 1998. [1] [2] [4] After hearing an unauthorized demo, [3] American Recordings subsequently signed the group. [1] [2] Commenting on the demoes, Ingersoll stated that the demo was made just to get songs down and that "It was something [he] didn't even want people to hear". [3] Despite touring with groups such as Mötley Crüe and Megadeth, [1] [2] [3] they were dropped from the label. [1] [2] Speaking about the group being dropped from the label, Ingersoll stated:

"It was a learning experience [...] We didn't deliver the record they were expecting, whatever that was. The whole thing was like an episode of 'Behind The Music'." [3]

DreamWorks Records signed them in early 2002. [1] [2] [3] Several months later, they recorded and released their first official major label album, The Red Record . [1] [2] [3] [4]

Gosling (2004–2006)

In 2004, Loudermilk changed their name to Gosling, [5] after changing their musical style, retaining all members with Watrous switching from guitar to keyboards. [6] Influenced by the likes of Sunny Day Real Estate, [6] The Smashing Pumpkins, [6] Pink Floyd [6] and Queen, [5] [6] they released the Gosling EP through The Control Group in August 2004. [6] Earlier in the year, they supported Velvet Revolver at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California. [7] They released their debut full-length Here Is... in 2006 through V2 [6] and went on to tour with Rose Hill Drive. [6]

A cover of David Bowie's "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" was included on the soundtrack to the film Underworld: Evolution in 2006. [8]

Post-Break up

Drummer Carpenter went on to perform with a number of groups such as The Exies, [9] Ours, [9] Seaspin [10] and Black Lab among others. In 2009, became the drummer for Loaded, the band fronted by Velvet Revolver and former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan, replacing previous drummer Geoff Reading. [9] In September 2010, the group completed the recording of their new album [11] [12] which was produced by Terry Date. [13] [14] [15]

Guitar player and keyboardist Mark Watrous has since functioned as a studio musician and a touring member of Shudder To Think, [16] The Raconteurs, [16] The Shins, [17] Brendan Benson, Karen Elson, The Greenhornes and Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons. In 2010 he released a split 7-inch under his own name with Canadian singer/songwriter Hannah Georgas as well as a 7-inch with Brendan Benson as the fictional duo Well & Goode. [18] He is now the frontman for the Nashville-based Earl Burrows.

<i>Sick</i> (Loaded album) 2009 studio album by Loaded

Sick is the second studio album by American rock band Loaded. It is their first album since reforming after they went on hiatus in 2002. It was recorded and produced by Martin Feveyear at Jupiter Studios in Seattle, Washington, and was released on March 30, 2009, in Europe and April 7 in the US, through Century Media Records. Writing for the album began in 2008 when vocalist Scott Weiland departed Duff McKagan's other band, Velvet Revolver, in April of the same year. Recording for the follow-up to their 2001 debut album Dark Days began and was completed in June 2008.

Alien Crime Syndicate, often abbreviated to ACS, were a rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1997. From 1999 to the band's breakup in 2005, the lineup consisted primarily of Joe Reineke, Jeff Rouse, Nabil Ayers (drums), while guitarists Jason Krevey, Mike Squires and Mike Davis were also members of the band.

Electric Love Hogs were a short-lived American funk rock band formed in San Diego, California in 1991. The band's lineup consisted of John Feldmann, Dave Kushner (guitar), Donni Campion (guitar), Kelly LeMieux (bass) and Bobby Hewitt. They released one self-titled album in 1992, followed by a tour of the United States and United Kingdom, before they disbanded the following year.

Martin John Feveyear born late 1966 is a British record producer and audio engineer based in Seattle, Washington. Beginning as a singer-songwriter and musician, Feveyear soon began recording work for artists in both the UK and US before moving to Seattle at the age of 25. Together with Christian Fulghum, he opened Jupiter Studios in Seattle in 1996. He has since worked with artists and groups — producing, engineering, arranging, mixing, mastering and additional instruments — such as Mark Lanegan, Mudhoney, Duff McKagan's Loaded, Kings of Leon, The Presidents of the United States of America, Queens of the Stone Age, Amber Pacific, Jesse Sykes, Sirens Sister, Green Apple Quick Step, Nevada Bachelors, The Minus 5, and Brandi Carlile, among others.

The Gentlemen was an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1998. Formed by Duff McKagan, formerly of Guns N' Roses, the band's first lineup consisted of guitarists Michael Barragan, formerly of Plexi, and Dez Cadena, formerly of Black Flag, as well as drummer Taz Bentley, formerly of The Reverend Horton Heat. The same year, they adopted the Loaded moniker before disbanding.

Mark Watrous is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and graphic/video artist from Richland, Washington. He is best known as a former member of the band Gosling. Watrous is currently a member of Earl Burrows and the Shins and has routinely performed as a touring member of the Raconteurs, the Greenhornes, Shudder to Think, Brendan Benson, and Karen Elson among others.
