Gracie Lawrence (born March 16, 1997 [1] ) is an American actress and singer who co-fronts the soul-pop band Lawrence alongside her brother Clyde. [2]

Early life

Lawrence grew up in a Jewish family in New York City. [2] Her father, Marc Lawrence, is a filmmaker, best known for writing Miss Congeniality . Lawrence and her brother, Clyde, performing music together since childhood. Their first venues were, “small cafés and clubs around lower Manhattan.” [2] She graduated from The Dalton School in 2015. She attended Brown University before dropping out to pursue music full-time. [2]

Music

Lawrence and her brother, Clyde, make music under the band name Lawrence. They released their first album, Breakfast, in 2016. They have released four studio albums and several live and acoustic albums. [3]

Lawrence currently has eight band members, including Sam Askin, Sumner Becker, Jordan Cohen, Michael Karsh, Jonny Koh, and Marc Langer. [4] In 2023, the band served as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers North American tour. [4]

The band has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert . [3] [5]

Acting

Lawrence made her Broadway debut in 2009 in the revival of Neil Simon’s play, Brighton Beach Memoirs. In 2025, she'll star alongside Jonathan Groff as the singer Connie Francis in the musical, Just in Time . [6]

She has had roles in The Americans, Younger, and Billions. In 2025, she joined the third season of Sex Lives of College Girls on Max as a series regular playing the character Kacey. [7]

Jimmy Kimmel Live!, sometimes shortened to JKL, is an American late-night political satire talk show, created and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and broadcast on ABC. The nightly hour-long show tapes and is based out of the Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. It debuted on January 26, 2003 as part of ABC's lead-out programming for Super Bowl XXXVII. Just in Time is an upcoming jukebox musical based on the life of American singer Bobby Darin, with a book by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver. Based on an original concept by Ted Chapin, the musical is scheduled to have its premiere on April 23, 2025, at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre, with Alex Timbers as director and Jonathan Groff in the lead role as Darin. Groff also serves as one of the production's producers, alongside Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens, and John Frost, with previews set to begin on March 28, 2025. For the production, the theatre will be transformed into an "an immersive nightclub-like destination" with two stages, a cabaret-style seating plan, and a big band on stage. The cast of 16 also includes Joe Barbara, Michele Pawk, Lance Roberts, Caesar Samayoa, Christine Cornish, Julia Grondin, Valeria Yamin, John Treacy Egan, Tari Kelly, Matt Magnusson, Khori Michelle Petinaud, Larkin Reilly, and Emily Bergl, as well as Gracie Lawrence as Connie Francis.
