Graham Alexander MacGregor CBE is a British academic, professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Wolfson Institute, Queen Mary University of London

MacGregor trained at Charing Cross Hospital where he was taught by the distinguished nephrologist, Professor Hugh de Wardener. [1] MacGregor's own speciality at this stage was also in kidney disease. [1] He developed an interest in the relationship between kidney function and high blood pressure which led him to a parallel campaigning role, attempting to persuade food manufacturers to reduce the quantity of salt in factory produced food. [2]

More recently he has become chairman of Action on Sugar.

MacGregor is also honorary consultant physician at St George's Hospital, London, and a visiting professor at St George's Hospital Medical School, London. [1]

He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to cardiovascular disease. [3]

McGregor was listed in the IoS Happy List, 2012.[ citation needed ]

Salt consumption has been extensively studied for its role in human physiology and impact on human health. Aseem Malhotra British cardiologist and writer

Aseem Malhotra is a British cardiologist, public health campaigner, author of several books, and writer of articles in newspapers. In 2018 he was a visiting professor at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública. He campaigns in particular for people to reduce sugar in their diet and was the first science director of Action on Sugar in 2014. He also campaigns for reducing the overprescribing of medicines. He has been listed as one of The Sunday Times 500 most influential people, identified as one of the top ten "Smart Set" in the London Evening Standard, and was twice recognized as one of the top 50 black and minority ethnic (BME) community member pioneers in the UK National Health Service by the Health Service Journal. He promotes a low carb, high fat diet and is co-author of a book calledThe Pioppi Diet.

Jack Martin Cuzick is an American-born British academic, director of the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine in London and head of the Centre for Cancer Prevention. He is the John Snow Professor of Epidemiology at the Wolfson Institute, Queen Mary University of London.

Jim Mann (scientist) New Zealand nutritionist and endocrinologist

Sir Joel Ivor Mann, generally known as Jim Mann, is a New Zealand nutritionist and endocrinologist. He is professor in human nutrition and medicine at the University of Otago and consultant physician (endocrinology) at Dunedin Hospital. He has researched the role of lipids and carbohydrates in coronary heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, as well as the relationship between obesity and cancer. He was knighted in the 2022 New Year Honours.

Harry Keen was an English diabetologist and a professor of human metabolism at Guy's Hospital. He was the first to identify microalbuminuria as a predictor of kidney disease in diabetics, and was an international authority on diabetes.
