After being an unused substitute against Peterhead, he made his debut as a substitute against Dunfermline Athletic on 12 November 2016. During the early part of the 2017–18 season, Taylor appeared in a number of further cup fixtures, and was named man of the match against Linfield in the Challenge Cup in October 2017. [2]

In January 2018, Dundee United sent Taylor to League Two club Edinburgh City on a development loan for the rest of the season. [3] Dundee United announced on 26 April 2018 that Taylor was one of four players who would be leaving the club, having not been offered a new contract. [4]
