Grandson was a district of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The seat of the district was the town of Grandson.

On 1 September 2006 the district was dissolved and all the municipalities joined the new Jura-North Vaudois District (French : District du Jura-Nord vaudois). [1]

It was part of the Kingdom of Upper Burgundy until the death of Rudolph III of Burgundy (993-1032), also King of Lower Burgundy, the last in the male line, when it was united with the Holy Roman Empire. On 2 March 1476, during the Burgundian Wars, Charles the Bold was defeated here in the Battle of Grandson.

The Vallée de Joux is a valley of the Jura Mountains mainly in the Swiss Canton of Vaud. The valley also continues into France at its higher, southwestern, end. Located 30 miles (48 km) north of Geneva and northwest of Lausanne, its mean elevation is over 3,300 feet (1,000 m). There are three Swiss lakes in the Vallée de Joux: the lac de Joux, the lac Brenet and Lake Ter. The French border runs along the northern edge of the valley until, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of the lac de Joux, the base of the valley becomes French territory. The valley then continues to climb gently towards the Lac des Rousses and the ski resort of Les Rousses.

The Le Day viaduct is a railway viaduct in Vallorbe in the Jura-Nord vaudois District of the Swiss canton of Vaud. It stands near the hamlet of Le Day and crosses the Orbe. This has been dammed since 1955 by the Le Day dam, which lies 450 m downstream.
