Grant Collins (born in Australia) is a professional drummer and drum clinician.

Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands. Graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Music in 1997, he was named 'Winner of the Australian Academy of Music Composition competition' during his first year of study. In '96, Grant's success in 'Australia's Best Up and Coming Drummer Competition' in Melbourne, led to worldwide sponsorships with major cymbal and drum companies, and also to clinics and workshops along the entire east coast of Australia. Grant also has a teaching studio in Brisbane and is Associate Lecturer in Jazz Percussion at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

A cymbal is a common percussion instrument. Often used in pairs, cymbals consist of thin, normally round plates of various alloys. The majority of cymbals are of indefinite pitch, although small disc-shaped cymbals based on ancient designs sound a definite note. Cymbals are used in many ensembles ranging from the orchestra, percussion ensembles, jazz bands, heavy metal bands, and marching groups. Drum kits usually incorporate at least a crash, ride, or crash/ride, and a pair of hi-hat cymbals. A player of cymbals is known as a cymbalist.

Brisbane is the capital of and the most populated city in the Australian state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of 2.5 million, and the South East Queensland region, centred on Brisbane, encompasses a population of more than 3.5 million. The Brisbane central business district stands on the historic European settlement and is situated inside a peninsula of the Brisbane River, about 15 kilometres from its mouth at Moreton Bay. The metropolitan area extends in all directions along the floodplain of the Brisbane River Valley between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range, sprawling across several of Australia's most populous local government areas (LGAs)—most centrally the City of Brisbane, which is by far the most populous LGA in the nation. The demonym of Brisbane is "Brisbanite".

Drum and cymbal setup

The kit used by Grant is Australia's biggest drum kit setup.^{[ citation needed ]} He currently endorses Pearl drums and Zildjian cymbals,^{[ citation needed ]} and uses a Pearl Masters MMX kit when performing live. He has also designed his own signature sticks made by Vic Firth.^{[ citation needed ]}
