Grateful is the third studio album by Danish electronic rock band Carpark North, released on 8 September 2008. The album has spawned four singles: "Shall We Be Grateful", "More", "Save Me from Myself" and "Leave My Place". The song "Save Me from Myself" was covered by Brazilian Christian rock band Oficina G3 and Christian musician Michael W. Smith.
Electronic rock is a music genre that involves a combination of rock music and electronic music, featuring instruments typically found within both genres. It originates from the late 1960s, when rock bands such as the Doors, Pink Floyd, Yes, and the Moody Blues began incorporating the Moog synthesizer into their sound. Sampling and tape manipulation would also become common with the genre. Electronic rock acts usually fuse elements from other music styles, including punk rock, industrial rock, hip hop, techno, and synth-pop, which has helped spur subgenres such as indietronica, dance-punk, and electroclash. Since the late 2000s, electronic rock has become increasingly popular.
Carpark North is a Danish electronic rock band. The band was formed in Aarhus, Denmark on 28 July 1999 by Lau Højen, Søren Balsner and Morten Thorhauge (drums). The name "Carpark North" was created from the electro and rock genres: "Carpark" stands for car parks, edges, roughness, metal - the rock part, and "North" stands for northern lights, stars ethereal electronics.
Oficina G3 is a Christian metal band from São Paulo, Brazil. Lead vocalist and guitarist Juninho Afram formed the band along with drummer Walter Lopes and bassist Wagner García in 1987. Through their history they have changed their musical style very drastically. Initially they were a heavy metal / hard rock band with influences from Petra and Stryper, then they changed to a more pop rock and metal oriented genre, and recently changing to a more progressive metal driven musical style.

In late 2006 the band started building their own recording studio "Yderlandet" in Copenhagen, and began to work on their third album. Around the same time Carpark North left EMI for a Danish independent label, Copenhagen Records, to have total control over their sound. In mid 2007 they were contacted by American producer Brian Sperber (Moby, Julian Casablancas), who wanted to produce their next release. Sperber joined the production mid-way and finished the songs together with mixing the album. [1]

Copenhagen Records is a Danish record label formed on 5 January 2004 by former EMI Recorded Music Denmark staff members to give artists more artistic autonomy. It houses artists spread over a wide range of genres, from rock to rap, and from pop artists to comedians.
The album was certified platinum in Denmark [2] and became their most successful release to date. 'The title, Grateful, suddenly made more and more sense to us, 'cause we WERE really amazed by the success gained from this album. During those months we were in a constant state of gratefulness,' said the band's vocalist Lau Højen. [1]
