History

In 2000, Nigel Hemming was approached by Vineyard Records UK to co-produce the first Vineyard UK children’s worship album. [1] The song entitled 'Great Big God', written by Nigel and Jo Hemming, [2] was recorded and became the title track of the first album to be released under the brand (Great Big God – released in September 2001). [3] The following Easter, the song was chosen for use in the all age worship slot at Spring Harvest, a national worship and teaching event in UK, and was featured on the live recording, Spring Harvest - Kids Praise 2002.

Since the launch of the album in 2001 Great Big God as a series has grown and to date six albums, a DVD and three-disc best of compilation CD have been released. [4] The popularity of the series has been noted by many Christian music reviewers. For example, in February 2006 Cross Rhythms said that the "Great Big God CDs have been amongst the most popular British-made children's worship albums of recent years". [5] In 2010 Cross Rhythms again reiterated the popularity of the series saying "Great Big God CDs and DVDs...have been hugely popular with both parents and kids". [6]
