Greek Cinema is a Greek language film channel that airs the best classic and contemporary films from Greece. It is the first 24-hour film channel in the world dedicated to Greek cinema. It is owned and operated by Attica Media Group, a media conglomerate in Greece that specializes in magazine publishing as well as TV & radio broadcasting.

Greek Cinema channel airs an eclectic array of films, spanning all time periods from the golden age of Greek cinema (the 1950s and 1960s) to more contemporary fare from the 1970s-1990s. It also airs films from a wide variety of genres including comedies, dramas, romance, crime, adventure as well as historical films. Greek Cinema airs films from the top film studios in Greece including Finos Film, Karayiannis-Karatzopoulos and Papandreou Productions.

Availability

Greek Cinema originally launched on 16 January 2012 in Greece via a partnership with OTE TV, a Greek pay-TV operator that offers Satellite television and IPTV services. OTE TV launched ΟΤΕ ΣΙΝΕΜΑ, the first ever Greek cinema channel via a programming alliance with Greek Cinema channel. [1]

On 26 September 2012, Greek Cinema channel expanded internationally, launching on Dish Network in the United States. It subsequently launched in Canada in 2013, via a partnership with Odyssey TV and in Australia on the MySat platform.

On 3 May 2014, it was announced that Attica Media Group had signed a distribution agreement with Mesimvria Enterprises Ltd. in Cyprus to launch Greek Cinema channel in Cyprus. [2] The channel subsequently launched on CytaVision on June 16, 2014. [3]

In 2015, Alpha TV Cyprus was founded and it broadcast the Alpha TV Programs and others of its own. Alpha Cyprus now is one of the highest-rated Cypriot channels.

Vodafone Greece is the Greek subsidiary of Vodafone. In 2004 it was the leading mobile operator in Greece. Its headquarters are in Halandri - one of the northern suburbs of Athens.

Antenna Group, better known as ANT1 Group, is a media company in Greece and currently the largest Greek media company. It was established on 2 August 1989 by Minos Kyriakou. Today, his son, Theodore Kyriakou, heads up a media empire whose operations include broadcasting, radio, publishing, digital, educational services, telecommunications and a record label. At the cornerstone of the company is ANT1 TV, one of the largest and most successful private television networks in Greece.

MTV (Greek TV channel)

MTV Greece was a Greek free-to-air television channel launched on 1 September 2008, replacing Smart TV. Owned by Viacom International, it closed down suddenly on 11 January 2016, one year prior the proper MTV copyrights come to an end, despite the good ratings. It was replaced by RISE TV on terrestrial television. Also, it OTE TV and NOVA subscription providers, it was replaced by MTV Europe and MTV Live HD.

Television in Cyprus was introduced in 1956. In 1957, CyBC was created. Private TV was introduced on 26 April 1992, by Logos TV which started its transmissions in stereo and Teletext from day one. The first private TV station of Cyprus was owned and operated by the Church of Cyprus. In August 1995, the same station introduced the first internet service provider in Cyprus, LOGOSNET. The Republic of Cyprus currently uses the PAL colour system and has converted terrestrial transmissions to digital on 1 July 2011, in line with EU policy. Because of the political division of the island, television companies are also divided.

Universal Channel (Greek TV channel) Defunct greece television channel

Universal Channel was a Greek television network, owned by Universal Networks International, a division of NBCUniversal. It debuted in Greece on May 5, 2008, exclusively on OTE TV, the pay-TV service of OTE, one of the major telecommunication groups in Southeastern Europe. Later, the channel broadcast in Cyprus via PrimeTel, Cablenet and CytaVision. The Channel hosted the branded block Sci Fi, the brand dedicated to science fiction, horror, fantasy and paranormal of NBCUniversal. Sci-Fi aired every Saturday from 9 PM to 1:10 AM and every Sunday starting from around 4 to 9 PM.

Cartoon Network (Middle Eastern and African TV channel) Childrens TV channel

Alpha TV Cyprus

Alpha Cyprus is a Cypriot Channel, created in 2015, a Sister-Channel of Alpha TV Greece, & operates its programs. The general manager is Petros Petrou. Alpha Cyprus is one of the Highest-rated channels in Cyprus.

Alpha Digital is a Greek former digital satellite pay TV platform owned by Alpha Digital Synthesis SA. Commissioned by Alpha TV and executive director Stathis Tsotsoros, the platform was launched on October 29, 2001 and shut down around a year later, September 11, 2002, due to financial difficulties and a low number of 40.000 subscribers. It was also funded by the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation.

Epic (Cyprus)

Epic LTD, is a Cyprus based telecommunications services provider owned by Monaco Telecom. It is the second largest mobile network operator in Cyprus by number of subscribers, behind CYTA. In addition to its already established mobile network, the company is a provider of fixed telephony, broadband services and TV. Following its rebranding from MTN to Epic its slogan has been "Great network. Great value".
