The Green Bay Marathon is an annual race event that takes place on the 3rd week of May in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The Green Bay Marathon began in June 2000 by Gloria West. The current Race Director is Toni Jaeckels. The races included are a full marathon, a 1/2 marathon, a 5k race, and a children's race. Its official name is the "Cellcom Green Bay Marathon", as its major sponsor is Cellcom. [1]
The current full marathon course record is 2:15:15 set by James Boit in 2010. [2] The current half marathon course record is 1:04:38 set by Shadrack Muteri in 2008. The men's marathon in 2008 was won by Ukraine's Andriy Toptun in a time of 2:22:51.
The race that was held on Sunday, May 20, 2012, was called, due to excessive heat. This was the first year in the history of the race that this was done. Due to unexpected and quickly escalating heat and humidity, the decision was made to call the race at approximately 9:35 a.m. after the 7:00 a.m. start. In the marathon, only ten runners were scored.
The 2020 race weekend was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The race organizers gave an option to those who had already registered: run a virtual race or defer their entry to the 2021 race weekend. [3] But the 2021 event was also canceled.
The course is relatively flat and fast. One of the biggest features is the opportunity for runners and walkers to race the last tenth of a mile through historic Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
All of the weekend road race events start next to Lambeau Field on Lombardi Avenue. The Cellcom 5K, held on Saturday, travels north through the tree-lined streets of west Green Bay. On Sunday, the Cellcom Green Bay Half Marathon course follows nearly the same course as the 5K event, yet expands the distance to 13.1 miles and includes streets in Ashwaubenon. Also on Sunday and considered the main event, the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon course has its own unique route which travels from the stadium district, through Ashwaubenon and into De Pere. From De Pere, the participants run along 6 miles of the Fox River Trail, through Allouez, and into downtown Green Bay. At this time, the runners get a rare opportunity to run through City Stadium, which is the original game location of the historic Green Bay Packers NFL franchise. All three road courses, as well as the Wisconsin Public Service Kids' Power Run, make a victory lap inside Lambeau Field just before the finish line.
Ashwaubenon is a village in Brown County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 16,963 at the 2010 census. A suburb of Green Bay, Ashwaubenon is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area and carries a Green Bay mailing address. Part of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin is in Ashwaubenon.
Earl Louis "Curly" Lambeau was an American professional football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). Lambeau, along with his friend and fellow Green Bay, Wisconsin native George Whitney Calhoun, founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919, serving as team captain in the team's first year before becoming player-coach in 1920. As a player, Lambeau lined up as a halfback, which in the early years of the NFL was the premier position. He was the team's primary runner and passer, accounting for 35 touchdowns in 77 games. He won his only NFL championship as a player in 1929.
Lambeau Field is an outdoor athletic stadium in the north central United States, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The home field of the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL), it opened 66 years ago in 1957 as City Stadium, replacing the original City Stadium at Green Bay East High School as the Packers' home field. Informally known as New City Stadium for its first eight seasons, it was renamed in August 1965 in memory of Packers founder, player, and long-time head coach, Earl “Curly” Lambeau, who had died two months earlier.

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is an annual 26.2 mi (42.2 km) race run the first Sunday of May in Cincinnati, Ohio. First held in 1999, it is the 3rd-largest first-time marathon in the United States. The marathon had nearly 5000 finishers in 2008, and total participation for all weekend events exceeded 30,408 in 2011. The race starts and finishes downtown and also crosses into Northern Kentucky. It is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.

The marathon is certified by the USATF, and is a qualifying event for both the Boston Marathon and the United States Olympic Trials. The event features live music performed along the marathon and half-marathon routes, and at the finish as well.

Rockwood Lodge was the training facility of the Green Bay Packers from 1946 to 1950. Originally built in 1937 as a retreat for a local Norbertine Order, the Lodge was purchased by Packers coach and general manager Curly Lambeau in 1946 and then heavily renovated, making it the first self-contained training facility in professional football history. Although the facility was state-of-the-art at the time, many members of the Packers franchise and local fans complained of its high cost, distance from Green Bay, Wisconsin, and its poor practice field. The Lodge burned down in 1950, with the likely cause being faulty electrical wiring or lightning. The Packers received $75,000 in insurance from the fire, which would be used to help reestablish the Packers' long-term financial security. Lambeau resigned from the Packers just a week after the fire, citing a lack of unity in the team's direction between him and the Packers' board of directors. The Rockwood Lodge site would lay vacant for a number of years before being purchased by Brown County, Wisconsin, and developed into a public park.

The Titletown District, also known as the Titletown Entertainment District or simply Titletown, is a mixed-use development located on 45 acres (18 ha) of land adjacent to Lambeau Field in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. The district, which opened in 2017, was developed by the Green Bay Packers as a destination that will support tourism by providing year-round activities for local residents and tourists, gameday activities, as well as provide a local shopping and entertainment destination. As of June 2018, the district, which includes a 10-acre (4.0 ha) park and plaza, is anchored by a Hinterland Brewery, a Lodge Kohler hotel, a sledding hill, and a Bellin Health clinic. In November 2018, Titletown opened a seasonal ice rink and ice lounge.
Though the city currently has no National Football League team, Milwaukee is considered a home market for the Green Bay Packers. The team split its home schedule between Green Bay and Milwaukee from 1933 to 1994, with the majority of the Milwaukee games being played at Milwaukee County Stadium.
