The Green Lake Yacht Club is a private yacht club located in Green Lake, Wisconsin, United States. It's one of the members of the Inland Lake Yachting Association (ILYA). [1]

The Green Lake Yacht Club, organized in 1894, was one of the first yacht clubs in the state. [2]

GLYC hosted the 10th Annual A-Scow National Championship in 2015, [4] and the ILYA I-20 Invitational Regatta in 2009 [5] and 2015. [6]

The usual crew is two people and the boat can be cruised or raced with a Portsmouth Yardstick of 1142. The Squib has been adopted by the RYA as the National Keelboat and is big enough to race at sea and small enough to be trailed easily behind a family car.

The Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club (NNYC) is based in Neenah, Wisconsin and was established in 1864. This makes it one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. Since its formation the NNYC has been committed to promoting sailing for individuals of all ages through sponsorships of club racing and cruising for a wide variety of boats. NNYC participates in Lake Winnebago events, helping to support the Fox Valley Sailing School and many other community events. When the NNYC was formed it set out to accomplish several goals:

  1. To promote pleasure sailing and racing on Lake Winnebago.
  2. To establish a standard code of rules and signals for the Lake.
  3. To discourage extravagant expenditure in yachting.

The Butterfly is a one-design sailing dinghy, originally designed for a crew of two, but now most commonly raced single-handed. It was designed in 1961 in Libertyville, Illinois by John Barnett. The 12-foot (3.7 m) hull is a scow design. The craft has a stayed 18-foot (5.5 m) mast set as a Marconi rig with a single mainsail with a 75-square-foot (7.0 m2) surface area. The cockpit is 15 ½" deep, exceptionally deep for this size of sailboat, and can accommodate an adult up to 6 feet in height.

The Chicago Yacht Club is located in Chicago, Illinois. "CYC" is well known as being the Organizing Authority for the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac held each July. CYC also organizes dozens of other sailboat races and regattas throughout the boating season, which is usually considered May 1 to October 31 in the Chicago area. CYC has two club houses or stations, one at Monroe Harbor and one at Belmont Harbor.

The Windsor Yacht Club (WYC) is a private yacht club in Windsor, Ontario. It is located on the Canadian mainland just south of Peche Island overlooking the Detroit River. The clubhouse overlooks the southern shore of Peche Island and is at the north-end of the Detroit River, which takes water from Lake St. Clair.

Jane Wiswell Pegel is an American sailor, on water and on ice, who was elected into the United States' National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2021.
