While Jolivette was the mayor of Butler County's largest city during the 1980s,the city changed its name from "Hamilton" to "Hamilton!" [1]

It is named for General Richard Butler,who died in 1791 during St. Clair's Defeat. Located along the Great Miami River,it is also home to Miami University,a public university founded in 1809. Butler County is part of the Cincinnati,OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The majority of the county is in District 52 of the State House.

State Route 129 is an east–west highway in southwest Ohio running from its western terminus at SR 126 and Indiana State Road 252,just east of the Indiana–Ohio state line near Scipio,Ohio. Its eastern terminus is east of Interstate 75 (I-75) at Cox Road in Liberty Township. The route's eastern terminus was historically at SR 747 until 1999 when the route was moved south 1⁄2 mile (0.80 km) to the newly built Butler County Veterans Highway.

In this General Assembly,both the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives were controlled by the Republican Party. In the Senate,there were 22 Republicans and 11 Democrats. In the House,there were 63 Republicans and 36 Democrats. It is also the first General Assembly to use redistricted legislative districts after the 2000 Census.

A special election to the United States House of Representatives for Ohio's 8th congressional district was held to determine the successor to John Boehner,who resigned his seat on October 31,2015. Republican Governor of Ohio John Kasich set the primary election for March 15,2016,and the general election for June 7. The winner of the June special election ran for reelection in November 2016 but served the remainder of Boehner's 13th two-year term,which ended in early January 2017.
