Groruddalen Ballklubb was a Norwegian association football club from Groruddalen, Oslo.

The club came into existence through the merger of a number of local clubs in 2002, but went defunct again in 2008, after some of those clubs withdrew their backing. The club's short existence was spent in the Norwegian third and second division, missing its aim, to earn promotion to the first division, narrowly in 2007.

Founding

The valley of Groruddalen had a long history of competition between the many football teams. SF Grei was the best team for most of the 1990s, but there was little backing to be found from other clubs in the region. [1] In late 1995 there were talks about a merger, this time between the football branches of Refstad-Veitvet IL, Linderud IL and possibly Årvoll IL and Hasle-Løren IL. [2]

In 2002 the talks became more concrete. By that time Grei and Årvoll both had recently been relegated from the Second to the Third Division. These clubs first made plans together with Grorud IL, Vestli IL and Furuset IF. [3] When the umbrella team Groruddalen BK was finally founded, Høybråten og Stovner IL had also joined. [4] The foundation date was 22 September 2002. Rommen SK and Romsås IL later joined the cooperation. [5]

Sporting success

The club's goal was to be in the First Division within five years. In its first active season, 2003, Groruddalen BK won their Third Division group with flying colors. [6] The team had a goal difference of 122–20, and won 20 of 22 matches. [7] They however succumbed to Drøbak/Frogn IL in the promotion playoff. [6] In 2004 they won the Third Division group again, but this time they beat Jevnaker IF in the promotion playoff. [8]

In the 2005 Norwegian Second Division, Groruddalen ended in sixth place, one place behind Drøbak/Frogn. [9] In the 2006 Norwegian Second Division they finished second, eight points behind Skeid. They scored 73 goals in 26 games, best in their group. [10] In the 2007 Norwegian Second Division they finished third. [11] Christian Torbjørnsen became joint top goalscorer in the entire Second Division (four groups) in 2007 with 26 goals, and in 2006 he became joint runner-up with 23 goals. [12]

Downfall

They then lost their coach Rolf Teigen and assistant coach Mathias Haugaasen to Bryne FK after the 2007 season, and nearly their entire roster. [13] By November 2007, only two players from the 2007 season were left. [14] They had a hopeless 2008 Norwegian Second Division season, and ended in last place with only eight points. [15] After the 2008 season it was over. [5] Groruddalen BK tried to incorporate the squad of the club Oslo City FC into theirs, [16] but Oslo City rejected. Groruddalen had no grounds for existence as a Third Division club, both because of finances, [5] and because the cooperating parts (Grei, Grorud, Vestli, Furuset, Høybråten og Stovner, Rommen and Romsås) were not backing the club enough. For instance, Grorud signalized that in a 2009 Third Division season, Groruddalen would be their direct competitor. [16] Groruddalen eventually pulled their team, and ceased to exist.

Grorud Line

The Grorud Line is a 13.0-kilometer long (8.1 mi) line on the Oslo Metro between Tøyen and Vestli in Oslo, Norway. Built as a mix of underground, at ground level and as an elevated line, it runs through the northern part of Groruddalen, serving such neighborhoods as Grorud, Romsås and Stovner. Line 5 runs along the entire line four times per hour. Line 4 runs between Vestli and Økern before branching off on the Løren Line to get onto the Ring Line. With 40,000 daily riders, the Grorud Line is the busiest branch of the metro.

Stord Sunnhordland FK Norwegian football club

Stord Sunnhordland Fotballklubb was an association football club located in Leirvik, Stord, Norway. It was founded in late 2002 as a cooperation between the football sections of Leirvik's local multi-sports club Stord IL and lower-division Moster IL. The club was named Stord/Moster FK until 2006. Two investors, football agent Terje Simonsen and professional footballer Kjetil Løvvik, were behind the merger. It was founded to create one large club in the Sunnhordland region, to attract support behind the club. Critics claimed that the investors were mainly looking to develop players to sell for cash. Top goalscorer the first season was Kjetil Løvvik himself, who quit a professional career to play for the club. Stord/Moster fared well on the football field; they won their Third Division group twice in a row, and on the second occasion they gained promotion through playoff. They then played two seasons in the Second Division. Their biggest talent was Christian Brink who went on to higher levels of football.

Løren Line

The Løren Line is a 1.6-kilometer (1.0 mi) line of the Oslo Metro. Located entirely underground, it runs through the neighborhoods of Sinsen, Løren and Økern in Bjerke, creating a connection between the Ring Line with the Grorud Line. The line features one station, Løren. It is served by metro trains which run down the Grorud Line and then connect to the Ring Line. It allows for higher capacity on the metro as more passengers a transported via the Ring Line instead of through the congested Common Tunnel. Construction started in June 2013 and the line opened on 3 April 2016.

Hasle-Løren IL Norwegian multi-sport club

Hasle-Løren Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from the neighborhoods Hasle and Løren in Oslo. It was founded in 1911, and has sections for association football, bandy, ice hockey, skiing, and cycling.

The 2005 2. divisjon season was the third highest association football league for men in Norway.

IL Stålkameratene Norwegian sports club

Idrettslaget Stålkameratene, Stål for short, is a Norwegian sports club from Mo i Rana, Nordland. It has sections for judo, biathlon, Nordic skiing and football.

SF Grei Norwegian sports club

SF Grei is a Norwegian sports club from Rødtvet, Oslo. It currently has sections for association football, floorball and gymnastics.

Tornado Måløy FK Norwegian football club

Tornado Måløy Fotballklubb is a Norwegian association football club from Vågsøy, Sogn og Fjordane. It plays in both Måløy and Refvik, and the men's team is situated in the Third Division, the fourth tier of Norwegian football.
