Gunde Maersk is owned and operated by the A.P. Moller Maersk. [1] Gunde Maersk was one of the largest container ships in the world when she was built. The Gunde Maersk was christened on 10 May 2008 at Maersk Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark. [2]

Hull and engine

Gunde Maersk is a fully cellular container ship with a capacity of 11,008 TEU. [1] It was completed in May 2008 by the Odense Steel Shipyard, in yard 212. [1] It has an overall length of 367 meters. [1]

It is powered by a Wärtsilä 12RT-Flex96c, 2-stroke slow speed diesel engine. [1] This engine is capable of propelling the Marchen Maersk at a top speed of 25 knots. [1]

When launched in 2006 she was the largest container ship ever built, and in 2010 she and her seven sister ships were among the longest container ships. Officially, she is able to carry around 11,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) or 14,770 TEU depending on definition. In May 2010, her sister ship Ebba Mærsk set a record of 15,011 TEU in Tanger-Med, Tangier.

Gudrun Maersk is a container ship, capable of carrying 8,500 TEU and with a deadweight (DWT) of 115,700 metric tons. The ship was built in 2005 and is operated by the Maersk Line.

Edith Maersk is a container ship and the sister ship of Emma Maersk. She has capacity for 13,500 containers; calculations from Maersk Line company say that it has only 11,000 TEUs capacity. She can reach up to 15,200 TEUs according to specialists.

Estelle Mærsk is a container ship owned and run by the Mærsk Line. She was, in 2009, the largest ever built by terms of gross tonnage. Estelle Mærsk has a capacity of 11,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), including around 1,000 40-foot (12 m) reefer containers, though a maximum capacity of 13,500 TEU is claimed. She is identical to the seven other ships in the E class, the first built of which was Emma Maersk.

E-class container ship

The E class comprises eight 14,770 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container ships. Each sister ship bears a name beginning with the letter "E". Until 2012, they were the largest container ship ever constructed, and are among the longest ships currently in use at 398 metres (1,306 ft) long and 56 metres (184 ft) wide. They are owned by the Danish A. P. Moller-Maersk Group. The first in the class built was Emma Maersk by Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd., Denmark. The ships Emma, Estelle, and Eugen were subjects of TV documentaries. The E class was followed by the larger and more fuel efficient Triple E class.

MV <i>Aase Maersk</i> (1930)

MV Aase Maersk or Aase Mærsk was a Danish 6,184 GRT oil tanker. Odense Steel Shipyard of Odense built her in 1930 for A. P. Moller of Copenhagen. She was a motor ship, powered by a Burmeister & Wain six-cylinder four-stroke single-acting marine diesel engine developing 489 NHP.

<i>Eleonora Mærsk</i>

Eleonora Mærsk is one of the world's largest container ships operated by A. P. Moller and registered to Svendborg, Denmark. It was constructed in 2006 at the Odense Steel Shipyard. There are seven other identical sister ships in the A. P. Moller fleet. Eleonora Mærsk and the other seven ships of the E class are among the biggest ever built.

Sovereign Maersk is container ship, which is part of the fleet of Maersk Line. The container vessel is operated by AP Moller Maersk Denmark and built in 1997 in the shipyard of Odense Steel Shipyard.
