Burhi Aair Sadhu or Burhi Aai'r Xaadhu is a collection of stories or folklore, that have been compiled by famous Assamese author and poet Lakshminath Bezbaruah. It is one of the most popular texts in Assamese literature. This book was first published in October–November 1911. Satish Chandra Kakati was an Indian journalist, writer, the editor of The Assam Tribune, an Assam based English-language daily, and one of the founders of Assam Bani, a vernacular weekly started in 1955 by The Assam Tribune group. He was the vice president of the Editors' Guild of India and authored seven books in Assamese and English. A 2005 recipient of the Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati Memorial Award, Kakati was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1991.

Prasanta Phukan is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He has been elected in Assam Legislative Assembly election in 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021 from Dibrugarh. He is the incumbent MLA of Dibrugarh. In 2021, Prasanta Phukan won the Assam Legislative Assembly Election with a margin of 38005 votes. He was the Chairperson of the Managing Committee of Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, before he resigned.

Sanjoy Kishan is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly election in 2016, representing the Tinsukia constituency.

The Bodousa Cup is an invitational football tournament in India, held across multiple venues of Assam and organised by Bodousa Sports Club of Tinsukia annually under the supervision of Assam Football Association. The tournament was incorporated in 2009 and is named after Moran Bodousa, a historical figure in upper Assam.

The Independence Day Cup is an Indian football tournament held in Nagaon, Assam, organised by Nowgong Sports Association annually. Teams from across the country compete in this oldest football tournament of Assam which was established in 1947, days after the Indian independence. Initially the tournament was hosted by Nagaon Marwari Yubak Sangha.

Ramesh Chandra Barooah was an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He was a member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Dibrugarh. He was twice a cabinet minister, as well as becoming speaker of the assembly in 1972.
