Gunter Thielen (born 4 August 1942 in Quierschied) was chairman and chief executive officer of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. [1] [2]

He graduated from RWTH Aachen University with a PhD in mechanical engineering and economics. [3] He was a manager at BASF from 1970 to 1976 and a technical director at the Wintershall refinery from 1976 to 1980. [4]

He was chief executive officer of Arvato AG, from 1985 to 2001. He was CEO of Bertelsmann AG from August 2002 [5] [6] until January 2008 when he was succeeded by Hartmut Ostrowski.

In 2005, he received the Johns Hopkins University Global Leadership Award. [7] He is on the International Advisory Board of the Atlantic Council. [8]

Aart Jan de Geus

Aart Jan de Geus is a retired Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and businessman. He served as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs from 2002 to 2007. Then he worked as Deputy Secretary-General for the OECD. From 2012 to 2019, De Geus was Chairman and CEO of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. Since January 2020, he has been Chairman of the Goldschmeding Foundation.

As of 2017, Löscher remains as the only CEO to be hired from outside the conglomerate in the 170-year history of Siemens. Before joining Siemens, he worked as president for Global Human Health at global pharmaceutical company Merck & Co.

Arvato German global services company

Arvato is a global services company headquartered in Gütersloh, Germany. Its services include customer support, information technology, logistics, and finance. The history of Arvato goes back to the printing and industry services division of Bertelsmann; the current name was introduced in 1999. Today, Arvato is one of eight divisions of Bertelsmann, the media, services and education group. In 2016, Arvato had about 68,463 employees and an overall turnover of 3.84 billion euros.

Klaus Zumwinkel German businessman

Being under suspicion of tax fraud, he resigned from office on February 15, 2008. Hartmut Ostrowski was CEO of Bertelsmann AG from 1 January 2008 until 31 December 2011, succeeding Gunter Thielen.

Gerhard Zeiler Austrian businessman (born 1955)

Gerhard Zeiler is an Austrian businessman who is the current president of Warner Bros. Discovery International, part of Warner Bros. Discovery. Before taking up the role at Turner/Warner, Mr Zeiler was chief executive officer of the German media company RTL Group and a member of the executive board of Bertelsmann, the media conglomerate that owns the RTL Group.

Joachim Milberg is a German engineer and manager who served as CEO of Bayerischen Motorenwerke AG (BMW). He was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMW until July 2015.

Thomas Rabe (manager) German manager

Thomas Rabe is a German business executive. In 2006, he was appointed to the Bertelsmann executive board, of which he has been chairman and chief executive officer since 2012. Under his leadership, the group has become more international, more digital and more diversified. In particular, he has advanced the business with music rights and the educational division. Additionally, Rabe was appointed chief executive officer of RTL Group in 2019.

Andreas Utermann British businessman

Andreas Ernst Ferdinand Utermann is an Anglo-German businessman. Utermann was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vontobel Holding AG at the company’s AGM on April 6th, 2022. Utermann led Allianz Global Investors, a global investment company owned by Allianz, for eight years from 2012, initially as a co-head and Global Chief Investment Officer and then as CEO from 2016.
