The Gure or Gurre (Somali: Gurre) is a Somali clan, a sub-clan of the major Dir clan family.

Distribution

The Gurre live in Liben zone and Afder zone. They dominate the districts, Qarsadula, Gorobakaksa and Gurredhamole, which are named after the Gurre clan, but also live in Elkare, Afder and West-Imi districts.Gurre community also live in Wargadud county of Mandera, Kenya and Somalia. [1]

The Somali Region, also known as Soomaali Galbeed and officially the Somali Regional State, is a regional state in eastern Ethiopia. Its territory is the largest after Oromia Region. Additionally, Majeerteen populations are present in southern towns such as Kismayo.

The Leelkase or Lailkase or Lelkase is a major subclan of the Tanade Darod clan. The term "Leelkase" is a nickname, which translates as "farsighted, mindful, smart or intelligent”

The Garre are a prominent Somali clan that traces its lineage back to Samaale, who is believed to have originated from the Arabian Peninsula through Aqiil Abu Talib. The Garre clan is considered to be a sub-clan of the Digil-Rahanweynl clan family, which is part of the larger Rahanweyn clan. However, genealogically, they are descended from Gardheere Samaale. The Garre are also categorized as southern Hawiye as well.

The Dir is one of the largest and most prominent Somali clans in the Horn of Africa. They are also considered to be the oldest Somali stock to have inhabited the region. Its members inhabit Djibouti, Somalia, Ethiopia, and northeastern Kenya.

The Marehan is a Somali clan, which is part of one of the largest Somali clan families, the Darod. The clan is one of the largest constituent sub-clans of the Darod. Marehan clan mostly reside in [Gedo] Jubaland state in southern Somalia, as well as the Galguduud and Mudug regions in central Somalia, the ogaden state|Somali region]] of Ethiopia. They primarily dominate the Gedo region and neighbor Ethiopia at the border, the clan also has a huge presence in Beled hawo. A large contingent of the tribe live in Dolow.

Raaso district in Ethiopia is a district in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. situated in the Afder Zone,raaso sits as the most populated town in Afder Zone. The population of the district of Raaso is estimated to be around 941,000. The district of Raaso is inhabited by reer Aw Qudub( Sub-clan of the larger Sheekhaalclan). Raaso is situated along the Imi–Ginir road, some 40 kilometers north-west of West Imi village at a latitude and longitude of 6°32′N41°47′E. The other towns around Raaso district are Buundada which is located on Shabeelle River, Dhaley and others. The area is characterised by thick, hilly bushland with seasonal rivers nearby that may carry water after rains, and where it is easy to dig shallow wells to get water available throughout the year.

Harti, meaning "strong man", is a Somali clan family that is the part of the Darod clan. The major sub-clans include the Majeerteen, Dhulbahante, Dishiishe, Warsangali and , while other minor sub-clans consist of Kaskiqabe, Geesaguule and Liibaangashe.

Afder is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Afder is bordered on the south by Dolobay, on the west by Jerti (woreda)Jarreti, on the north by Elkere, on the west by the Gode Zone, and on the southeast by Barrey. Towns in Afder include Gud'usbo and Hargele.

Dolobay is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Dolobay is bordered on the south by the Provisional Administrative Line with Somalia, on the west by the Ganale Dorya River which separates it from the Liben Zone, on the northwest by Cherti, on the north by Afder, and on the east by Bare. The major town in Dolobay is Weldiya.

Dolo Addo or Dolo Ado or Dollo Ado is one of the woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Liben Zone, Dolo Ado is located in the angle formed by the confluence of the Ganale Dorya with the Dawa River, and bordered to the northwest by Filtu, on the northeast by Afder Zone, on the southeast by Somalia, and on the south by Kenya. The Surre, is a Somali clan, a sub clan of the major Somali Dir clan, The Surre inhabit in central and southern Somalia. And also can be found in Somaliland, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Saleban Abdalle, is a Somali sub-clan. It forms a part of the Surre subdivision of the major Somali Dir clan.

The Gurgura, Gorgorah or Gurgure is a northern Somali clan, a sub-division of the Dir clan family.

The Jidwaq is a large Somali clan, part of one of the largest Somali clans families, the Absame Darod. Jidwaq are well known for their conquests in Abyssinia during the 1500s they played a very prominent role in Adal Sultanate. They are famous for bringing the largest army and were very loyal to Imam Ahmed. Jidwaq have produced notable generals such as Ahmed Girri Bin Hussein who was the right hand man of Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi

The Muhdi, is a Somali sub-clan. It forms a part of the Dishiishe Harti confederation of Darod clans, and primarily inhabit Somalia, Oman and Yemen. The Muhdis are believed to the largest sub-clan within Dishiishe both in terms of population size and land inhabitation but they are largely dispersed people living three respective countries

The Akisho is a northern Somali clan, a sub-division of the Dir clan family.

Wabeeneeye is a sub clan of the Majeerteen clan family and within the larger Harti clan and thereafter in the Darod.
