Guy Robinson is a retired driver of modified stock cars. Equally adept on both dirt and asphalt surfaces, he was victorious at venues on either side of the St. Lawrence River, despite being limited primarily to weekend racing by his full-time job. [1]

Racing career

Guy Robinson got his big break in 1965 when owner/driver John Barker Sr. offered him a chance to get behind the wheel of his flathead powered number 122 at the Watertown Speedway NY. The combination garnered several wins over the following two years. Barker built a new car for the 1967 season, with the new number '13' which became Robinson's hallmark throughout much of his career. [2]

Robinson went on to compete successfully at Brewerton Speedway NY, Brockville Speedway ON, Can-Am Speedway NY, Capital City Speedway ON, Evans Mills Speedway NY, Fort Covington Speedway NY, Kingston Speedway ON and Utica-Rome Speedway NY. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Guy Robinson claimed the Watertown Speedway point championships in 1971 and 1973, and he was inducted into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame in 1993. [6]

Don Diffendorf was an American dirt modified racing driver who accounted for over 100 feature victories. His most famous ride was Glenn Scott's iconic S/360, named for the IBM System 360 computers Scott sold.

Ovide Doiron is a retired Canadian Dirt Modified racing driver and engine builder. Credited with more than 300 wins he captured 25 track championships. Doiron became known as the "Flying Frenchman" after an incident at the Fort Covington Speedway, which occasioned Doiron's car getting airborne and backward, tearing down the flag stand as he took the checkered flag for the feature event win.

Bob Rossell is a pioneering driver of modified stock cars. Before his retirement, he was also a much sought-after car builder and fabricator, with many top drivers finding success in Rossell racers, with its signature square tubing.

Don June was a pioneering driver of dirt modified stock cars. He dominated the inaugural season at Edgewood Speedway in 1951, winning 11 feature events at the Alexandria Bay, New York oval and claiming the Adirondack Stock Car Club championship.

Gary Reddick was a driver of modified stock cars. Equally adept on both dirt and asphalt surfaces, he captured 7 track titles and nearly 200 feature wins in the northeastern United States and the southeastern Canada.

Dave Heaslip is a retired Canadian dirt modified racing driver. Credited with more than 300 career wins he competed for 50 years against the toughest competition on either side of the St. Lawrence River.

Doug Carlyle was a Canadian dirt modified racing driver. He competed successfully at race venues on either side of the St. Lawrence River, including Brockville Speedway ON, Fonda Speedway NY, Grandview Speedway PA, and Rolling Wheels Raceway NY.

Glenn Reiners (February 9, 1928 – November 11, 1994} was a pioneering American dirt modified racing driver. In 1958 he won 13 of the 20 feature races held at Dundee Speedway NY.

Dave Lape was an American dirt modified racing driver, fabricator, and promoter. His cars always carried the number 22 adorned with 13-point flames as a tribute to his childhood mentor, car owner Bob Whitbeck and his driver Pete Corey.
