Archery had its debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 16 Olympiads. Eighty-four nations have competed in the Olympic archery events, with France appearing the most often at 31 times. The most noticeable trend has been the excellence of South Korean archers, who have won 27 out of 39 gold medals in events since 1984. It is governed by the World Archery Federation. Recurve archery is the only discipline of archery featured at the Olympic Games. Archery is also an event at the Summer Paralympics.

The event was won by Kōhei Uchimura of Japan, the nation's first victory in the men's all-around since 1984 and fifth overall. Uchimura was the 14th man to earn multiple all-around medals, adding to his 2008 silver. Germany's Marcel Nguyen earned silver, the first men's all-around medal for a German gymnast since the 1936 Games in Berlin. Danell Leyva of the United States took bronze.

Krisztián Berki from Hungary won the gold medal. It was Hungary's first victory in the pommel horse since 1988 and fifth overall, tying the Soviet Union for most all-time. Great Britain's Louis Smith and Max Whitlock won silver and bronze respectively. Smith, who had won bronze in 2008, was the 10th man to win multiple medals in the event. It was the first time since 1984 that one nation earned multiple medals in the pommel horse.

Hamilton Sabot earned France's first parallel bars medal with his bronze.

The event was won by Nick Skelton of Great Britain, the nation's first victory in individual jumping and first medal of any color since making the podium four consecutive Games from 1960 to 1972. Silver went to Peder Fredricson of Sweden. Eric Lamaze of Canada took bronze, becoming the first person since 1968 and sixth overall to win multiple medals.
The 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was the forty-sixth edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. The competition was held from 23 October – 1 November 2015 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and is the first time that Scotland hosted the event. The competition served as a qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
