The University of Strathclyde is a public research university located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1796 as the Andersonian Institute, it is Glasgow's second-oldest university, having received its royal charter in 1964 as the first technological university in the United Kingdom. Taking its name from the historic Kingdom of Strathclyde, it is Scotland's third-largest university by number of students, with students and staff from over 100 countries.

Senator Jim Webb (D-VA), a lead sponsor of the legislation, has cited SVA's efforts as one of the primary reasons the new G.I. Bill was signed into law on June 30, 2008.

Jenny Higham is the first woman to serve as Principal of St George's, University of London, which she took up an appointment in November 2015. St George's, University of London obtained University status in June 2022, meaning Professor Higham's position is now Vice-Chancellor. She was the first female to be elected chair of the Medical Schools Council. Higham is also an honorary consultant at St. Georges NHS Foundation Trust and a visiting professor at the Imperial College London.
