Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic,whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972 and has undergone seventeen amendments.

Thus,she became the world's longest-serving female head of government. Her authoritarian regime ended in self-imposed exile following an uprising in 2024.
Abdul Qasim Mohammad Badruddoza Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the president of Bangladesh from 14 November 2001 until his resignation on 21 June 2002. He was the founding secretary-general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina,the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. Hasina also sustained some injuries in the attack.
Amir Hossain Amu is a Bangladeshi politician,a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Jhalokati-2 constituency,and served as the minister of industries during 2014–2019. He was the coordinator and spokesman for the Awami League-led 14-party Grand Alliance he has been arrested in 2024 for crime against humanity.
Ruhul Quddus Talukder "Dulu" is a Bangladeshi politician,lawyer,former deputy minister,and member of parliament representing the Natore-2 constituency. He is the organising secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Dulu was born in Natore Sadar Upazila,Natore District. He was a regular practitioner lawyer. Along with his legal career,he was also active in politics. In 1977,he joined the BNP's student organisation,Chhatra Dal.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was another landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina. The elections were marred by violence,and were widely considered by opposition politicians and the international community to be rigged.
Qamrul Islam is an Awami League politician. He is a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Dhaka-2 constituency,and also a former minister of food from 2014 to 2018. Islam was the state minister of law,justice and parliamentary affairs in the second Hasina cabinet.
Abdul Moyeen Khan is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He is a member of the current standing committee of the party. He served as the minister of state for planning,government of Bangladesh during 1993–1996,minister of information during 2001–2002 and the minister of science and information &communication technology during 2002–2006. He served as a member of the Bangladesh Parliament from 1991 until 2006.
Shamsuzzoha Khan is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the former Member of Parliament from Naogaon-2.
Mizanur Rahman Minu is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the former mayor and member of parliament of Rajshahi-2.
Shahidul Islam is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a two term member of parliament for Kushtia-2 from 1996 to 2006. He was known for filing cases and attacking journalists in Kushtia District.
Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament representing the Rajbari-1 constituency.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 7 January 2024 in accordance with the constitutional requirement,stating that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the current term of the Jatiya Sangsad on 29 January 2024. The Awami League,led by incumbent Sheikh Hasina,won the election for the fourth consecutive time with less than 10% of the eligible voters voting according to an Election Commission,which is run by the ruling political party. The party won 224 seats while independent candidates,most of whom were Awami League members propped up as dummy candidates to give a semblance of competition,won 62 seats.
