Dhubri District (Pron:ˈdʊbri) is an administrative district in the Indian state of Assam. The district headquarters are located at Dhubri town which is situated ~290 km from Guwahati. This was also the headquarters of erstwhile undivided Goalpara district which was created in 1876 by the British government. In 1983, Goalpara district was divided into four districts and Dhubri is one among those. Dhubri district is one among the many Muslim-majority districts of Assam. In 2016, Dhubri was divided again to form South Salmara-Mankachar District.

Maulana Badruddin Ajmal is an Indian businessman, politician, philanthropist and Islamic theologian of from the state of Assam. He is the state-president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind for Assam. He is also serving as the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Dhubri constituency since 2009 and the Founder and President of the All India United Democratic Front since 2005. He is also Chief Executive Officer of an non-profit organization, Ajmal Foundation which established 25 educational institutions, schools, and hospitals.

Aziz Ahmed Khan is an Indian politician. In 2016, he was elected as MLA of Karimganj South Vidhan Sabha constituency in Assam Legislative Assembly. He is an All India United Democratic Front politician. Just before the 2021 Assembly election, he resigned from the AIUDF and joined the Asom Gana Parishad, but lost to Siddeque Ahmed in the election.
The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election was the 15th quinquennial legislative assembly election held in the Indian state of Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases, to elect 126 MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the result declared on Sunday, 2 May. The term of the previous Fourteenth Legislative Assembly of Assam ended on 31 May 2021.
