Hamish Parry (born 3 April 1994) is a former Australian representative lightweight rower. He was a nine-time national champion in both sculling and sweep-oared crews and has sculled at underage and senior world championships from 2013 to 2021.
Parry attended St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace in Brisbane where he took up rowing. [1] Parry's senior club rowing has been from the Toowoong Rowing Club in Queensland. [2]
His state representative debut for Queensland came in 2016 in the lightweight four which contested and won the Penrith Cup at the Interstate Regatta. [3] He rowed in further Queensland lightweight fours racing for the Penrith Cup in 2017, 2018 and 2019. [4] He stroked those crews in 2018 and 2019. [5]
In 2015 and 2016 Parry won the open lightweight men's eight national titles rowing in composite Queensland crews at the Australian Rowing Championships. [6] [7] In 2017 in Toowong colours Parry contested four national open lightweight titles at the Australian Championships: the LM4X, the LM2-, the LM4-. He stroked each of those crews and all finished second. [8]
In 2018 Parry rowed in Toowong colours in composite Queensland lightweight crews for the national double scull, quad scull and coxless pair titles. He won the LM4X and the LM4- championships. [9] The 2019 Australian Championships saw Parry win the national titles in the lightweight single scull, the lightweight quad scull and in a composite Australian selection eight, the lightweight men's eight. Parry made his Australian representative debut at the 2013 World Rowing Cup I in Sydney where he rowed in both a lightweight coxless four (to fourth place) and the B Australian eight (to fifth place). [11] That same year he was selected to race at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Linz where he stroked the Australian lightweight coxless four to an overall twelfth place. [11] In 2014 he was again picked for the World Rowing U23 Championships in Varese where he stroked the coxless pair with John Armitage to sixth place in the final. [11] Parry and Armitage stayed together as Australia's lightweight pair for the 2015 World Rowing U23 Championships in Plovdiv. They finished in seventh place. [11]
In 2017 Parry moved into Australia's senior lightweight squad and into the quad scull. They rowed in the heavyweight event at the World Rowing Cup II in Poznan and then in as a lightweight quad at the World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne where they rowed to a fifth placing. [11] The same crew went on to the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota where they finished twelfth. [11]
In 2018 Parry was selected as Australia's senior lightweight sculler. He rowed at the World Rowing Cup II in Linz and then won a silver medal at the WRC III in Lucerne. [11] Then at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv he rowed to ninth place. [11] In 2019 with Leon Chambers, Parry raced in Australia's lightweight double scull at both World Rowing Cups in Europe [11] and was then selected to contest the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria. [12] The double were looking for a top seven finish at the 2019 World Championships to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. [13] They placed second in the B-final for an overall eighth place finish and failed to qualify the boat for Tokyo 2020. [11] Before those delayed Tokyo Olympics at the final Olympic qualification regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland in May 2021 and now paired with Sean Murphy, he raced an Australian representative lightweight double, again attempting to qualify that boat. They made their final, but missed the Olympic cut-off. [14]
Tom Laurich is an Australian former rower – a junior world champion, a national champion, an Olympian and a medallist at World Championships. He has coached crews at the elite world class level.
Anthony John Edwards is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is a five time Olympian, triple Olympic medallist, a world champion and a six-time Australian national champion. He represented Australia at the premier world regattas consistently over a twenty-year period from 1993 to 2012.
Michael McBryde is an Australian former lightweight rower. He was a national champion, an U23 World Champion and a medallist at senior World Championships.
Simon Burgess is an Australian national champion, two-time World Champion, three-time Olympian and dual Olympic silver medal-winning lightweight rower. He represented Australia ten times at World Rowing Championships between 1990 and 2002. He won world and national championships in both sculls and in sweep-oared boat classes during an eighteen-year elite level career.
Samuel Beltz is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is a 16-time national champion, a world champion and dual Olympian. He competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and represented Australia at the premier world class regattas over a fifteen-year period from 1999 to 2014.
Haimish John Karrasch is an Australian former rower. He was a nine-time Queensland state representative, an eight-time Australian national champion, a dual Olympian and won a silver medal at the 1999 World Rowing Championships.
Alexander Hill is an Australian representative rower. He is an Australian national champion, a dual Olympian, an Olympic gold and silver medallist and was the 2017 and 2018 world champion in the coxless four. He stroked the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Molly Goodman is an Australian rower. She is a national champion, a dual Olympian and a world champion winning the 2017 world title in a coxless four. She stroked the Australian eight to victory in the Remenham Challenge Cup at the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta. She stroked the Australian women's eight at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Blair Tunevitsch is an Australian former lightweight rower – a five time national champion and world champion. He won a gold medal at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in Bled with the lightweight men's eight.
Darryn Purcell is an Australian former national and world champion lightweight rower. He won a gold medal at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in Bled with the lightweight men's eight.
Alexander (Steve) Purnell is an Australian rower. He is an Olympic and national champion who has represented at underage and senior world championships. In 2018 in an Australian eight, he won the Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta. He rowed in the bow seat of the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Sarah Pound is an Australian former representative lightweight rower. She is a three-time national champion and won a silver medal at the 2014 World Rowing Championships.
Georgia Nesbitt is an Australian former representative lightweight rower who made 10 representative appearaances for Australia between 2013 and 2022. She was a seven-time national champion and she won a silver medal at the 2017 World Rowing Championships. In 2022 prior to a serious cycling accident, she competed in Australian Road National championships and had qualified to participate in her age group at the 2023 Ironman World Championships in Helsinki.
Amy James is an Australian representative lightweight rower. She is a two-time national champion and won a silver medal at the 2017 World Rowing Championships.
Perry Ward is an Australian national representative lightweight rower. He rowed in Western Australia's state selection lightweight crew for thirteen consecutive years from 2006 to 2018, winning the national title on four occasions. He represented Australia at eight senior and U23 world championships, stroking every crew in which he was selected and winning a silver medal at the 2010 World Rowing Championships.

Sean Murphy is an Australian representative lightweight rower. He is a 2018 Australian national champion; won bronze medals at senior and U/23 World Championships as a lightweight sculler; and in 2019 won two gold medals in lightweight sculling at Rowing World Cups in the international representative season.
Katrina Bateman is an Australian former representative rower. She is a ten-time Australian national champion, winning four national titles in the single year of 2015 and rowing in successful Victorian Queen's Cup crews for six consecutive years from 2011-2016. She was twice a medallist at underage world championships and has won gold, silver and bronze medals at World Rowing Cups between 2013 and 2019.
