The Hamlet Terminal Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in North Carolina. The Hamlet Terminal Subdivision is composed of three lines, all of which originate in Marston and terminate in Hamlet. [1] [2]
The Hamlet Terminal Subdivision is made up of three individual lines. The three lines converge at Monroe Junction and run parallel from there north to Warmac Interlocking where they combine.
The S Line runs northeast to southwest. At its north end the line continues south from the Aberdeen Subdivision and at its south end the line continues south as the Hamlet Subdivision.
At its north end the line continues south from the S Line at Warmac Interlocking and turns northwest at Monroe Junction. At its south end it continues south as the Monroe Subdivision.
At its north end the line continues south from the S Line at Warmac Interlocking and turns southeast and at its south end it continues south as the Andrews Subdivision.
The S Line north of Hamlet was originally built in 1877 as part of the Raleigh and Augusta Air-Line Railroad. From Hamlet south, the line was originally part of the Palmetto Railroad and began service in 1887. [3] Both lines were merged into the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1901 and made up their main line.
The SF and SH Lines were built in 1874 by the Carolina Central Railway, which would also become part of the Seaboard Air Line. [4] This made Hamlet an important junction for Seaboard.
The Florida Central and Peninsular Railroad was the final name of a system of railroads throughout Florida, becoming part of the Seaboard Air Line Railway in 1900. The system, including some of the first railroads in Florida, stretched from Jacksonville west through Tallahassee and south to Tampa. Much of the FC&P network is still in service under the ownership of CSX Transportation.
The McCormick Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. states of Georgia and South Carolina. The line runs from Augusta, Georgia, to Greenwood, South Carolina, for a distance of 62.8 miles (101.1 km). At its south end the line continues north from the Augusta Subdivision and at its north end the line continues north as the Monroe Subdivision.
The Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railway is a historic railroad line that at its greatest extent serviced Gasparilla Island in Charlotte Harbor and a major shipping port that once operated there. The railroad's principal purpose was to transport phosphate mined along the Peace River and in the Bone Valley region of Central Florida to the port to be shipped. It also brought passengers to the island community of Boca Grande on Gasparilla Island, and is largely responsible for making Boca Grande the popular tourist destination it is today. Part of the line remains in service today between Mulberry and Arcadia, which is now owned and operated by CSX Transportation. Today, it makes up CSX's Achan Subdivision and part of their Brewster Subdivision.
The Brooker Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Florida. The line runs from the CSX S Line at Wannee Junction in Starke to Newberry for a total of 39.6 miles. At its north end it continues south from the Wildwood Subdivision and at its south end it junctions at a wye with the Florida Northern Railroad.
The Clearwater Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the Tampa Bay region of Florida. The line begins just east of downtown Tampa in Gary and heads north through some of Tampa's suburban neighborhoods. In Sulphur Springs, the Clearwater Subdivision turns and runs west though Oldsmar, where it crosses Tampa Bay. It briefly shifts south running through Safety Harbor, and then heads west again to Clearwater. In Clearwater, it turns southeast, running through Largo and Pinellas Park before terminating at Fifth Avenue North in St. Petersburg near Tropicana Field. The distance from Gary to St. Petersburg along the line is 48.6 miles (78.2 km). At the line's north end it continues from the Tampa Terminal Subdivision and at its south end the track comes to an end.
The Jacksonville Terminal Subdivision is a group of railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in and around Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Terminal Subdivision includes the S Line, which runs from Jacksonville at Beaver Street near Moncrief Yard west to Baldwin Junction, for a total of 17.8 miles. At the south end it continues south as the Wildwood Subdivision and west as the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad. The A Line runs from just north of Jacksonville Amtrak Station south though Moncrief Yard to St. Johns, for a total of 13.0 miles. At its north end, the A Line continues south from the Nahunta Subdivision and at its south end it continues south as the Sanford Subdivision.
The Savannah Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of Georgia. Through the middle of Savannah, the Savannah Subdivision splits into an east route and a west route. The East Route runs from Savannah, Georgia, to Ogeechee, Georgia, for a total of 15.6 miles. At its north end it continues south from the Charleston Subdivision and the Columbia Subdivision both of the Florence Division and at its south end it continues south as the Nahunta Subdivision. The West Route is located in Savannah, Georgia, and is 9.7 miles in length. At its north end it branches off of the Savannah Subdivision East Route and at its south end it comes back into the Savannah Subdivision East Route.
The Tampa Terminal Subdivision is a group of railroad lines owned by CSX Transportation in and around Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Terminal Subdivision covers track around Yeoman and Uceta Yards and is located at the end of two of CSX's U.S. East Coast main lines to Richmond, Virginia, the A Line and the S Line.
The Wildwood Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Florida. It runs along CSX's S Line from Baldwin south to Zephyrhills via Ocala and Wildwood for a total of 155.7 miles. The S Line is CSX's designation for the line that was the Seaboard Air Line Railroad main line from 1903 to 1967.
The Yeoman Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in Florida. It runs along CSX’s S Line from Zephyrhills south to just east of Tampa via Plant City for a total of 31.2 miles.
The Tampa Northern Railroad was a historic railroad line running from just east of downtown Tampa north to the city of Brooksville in Hernando County. The line continues to operate today and is under the ownership of the CSX Corporation, who operates it as their Brooksville Subdivision north of Sulphur Springs and part of their Clearwater Subdivision south of there.
The Aberdeen Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in North Carolina. The line runs along CSX's S Line from Raleigh, North Carolina, to Marston, North Carolina, for a total of 86.9 miles. At its north end it continues south from the Norlina Subdivision and at its south end it continues south as the Hamlet Terminal Subdivision.

Some of the line's notable features include running in the median of Interstate 195 in Richmond as well as the line's tall arch bridge over the James River.
