The Maccabees were an English indie rock band, formed in 2004 in London. They released four albums: Colour It In in 2007, followed by Wall of Arms in 2009, Given to the Wild which was released on 9 January 2012 and their last album Marks to Prove It released on 31 July 2015. The band announced that they decided to disband in August 2016, with farewell gigs in 2017.
Hadouken! is a British band formed in London in 2006 by singer, writer and producer James Smith and synth player Alice Spooner along with guitarist Daniel "Pilau" Rice, bassist Christopher Purcell and drummer Nick Rice. The band name is taken from the special attack of the same name from the Street Fighter video game series. It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label, Surface Noise Records.

Nero are a British electronic music trio composed of members Dan Stephens, Joe Ray and Alana Watson. On 12 August 2011, they released their debut studio album, Welcome Reality, which reached number one in the UK Albums Chart. In August 2012, "Promises" received a Gold certification in the United States. On 10 February 2013, Nero won a Grammy Award for their collaborative remix of "Promises" with Skrillex. Their second studio album, Between II Worlds, was released on 11 September 2015.

"Quelle Surprise" is a single by British rock band Enter Shikari, released on 19 May 2011. It was originally planned to be the first single released from the band's third studio album A Flash Flood of Colour. However, Rou Reynolds later confirmed that it would not feature, and instead will be a stand-alone single much like the previous single "Destabilise". The song was first played live at the SXSW Festival on 18 March 2011 in Austin, Texas. The track's debut airing was on 19 May 2011 Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show, he chose the track for the "Hottest Record In the World" spot.
Bones is the second studio album by English alternative rock band Young Guns. It was released on in the UK on 3 February 2012 through Wind-up Records and PIAS Recordings, and in the US on 4 September 2012. Five singles were released from the album, the most successful being the second, "Bones", which topped the Billboard Active Rock charts in May 2013.
Weapons is the fifth and final studio album by the Welsh alternative rock band Lostprophets. It was released through Epic Records on 2 April 2012. It was the first and only record featuring Luke Johnson on drums, after being with two other drummers previously, Mike Chiplin and Ilan Rubin. This was the last album to be released by the band before lead vocalist Ian Watkins was convicted of numerous sex offences, which led to their disbandment.

The track was released in the United Kingdom on 8 July 2012 as the lead single from the band's second studio album, Come of Age (2012). "No Hope" received its first play on 28 May 2012 when it featured as BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World. A four-track extended play was made available to pre-order shortly afterwards, including the B-side "Blow Your Mind" which was written and sung by bass player Arni Hjorvar to tie in with the artwork which depicts a young girl resembling him.

"Drown" is a song by British rock band Bring Me the Horizon released on 21 October 2014. Originally released as a stand-alone single, a remixed version features on the band's fifth studio album That's the Spiritand was released as the lead single. The track, musically, marks a shift away from the band's previously established metalcore sound. Rather, it was described by critics as a pop punk-leaning emo and rock song, being the later showcased as arena rock. Coasts was an English rock band formed in Bristol in 2011. The group consists of Chris Caines (Vocals), Liam Willford (Guitar), James Gamage (Bass), David Goulbourn (Keyboards) and Ben Street (Drums). They are most notable for achieving two UK Top 40 albums, the second of which reached the Top 20. They are also known for their singles "A Rush of Blood" and "Oceans". "A Rush of Blood" was named Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record' in October 2014. The single has also featured on Made in Chelsea. "Oceans" has received international media attention and has achieved over four million plays on SoundCloud.

English Graffiti is the third studio album by English rock band The Vaccines. It was produced by Dave Fridmann, with co-production from Cole M. Greif-Neill at Fridmann's New York studio. The album was released on 25 May 2015 through Columbia Records and charted at #2 upon release. The album marked the band's first release in two years, following the Melody Calling EP, and their first full studio album release in three, following Come of Age in 2012. Young stated that Fridmann was chosen due to both his track record in making "consistently fantastic records". It is the last album recorded with drummer Pete Robertson, who left the band after completing their 2016 U.S. tour.
"Distant Past" is a song recorded by British indie pop band Everything Everything. The track was released in the United Kingdom by Sony on 18 February 2015 as the lead single from the band's third studio album, Get to Heaven. It was written by band members Jonathan Higgs, Jeremy Pritchard, Michael Spearman, and Alex Robertshaw, and was produced by Stuart Price. The song, like much of the album it appears on, reflects on the events of 2014, with chief songwriter Higgs explaining that it "[looks] at the fact that history repeats itself".

It features uncredited guest vocals by Gwyneth Paltrow, who at the time was married to Chris Martin despite their separation being announced in 2014. The track premiered during Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show on 26 November 2015 and was originally released as a promotional single for the album on 27 November 2015.
