Hanoi University of Pharmacy, formerly Indochina Medicine School, [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] located in Hanoi, Vietnam, [6] [4] was established by decree of the French government signed by Indochina General Governor Paul Doumer on 8 January 1902. The school was responsible for training doctors, Indochina pharmacists and research in tropical diseases.

On 29 September 1961, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 828/BYT/QD to split Hanoi College of Medicine - Pharmacy into two schools: Hanoi Medical College and Hanoi College of Pharmacy. [4] [7] The rector and Party Committee Secretary was pharmacist Vu Cong Thuyet; vice-rector was Professor Truong Cong Quyen. In 1985, Hanoi College of Pharmacy became Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

Nguyễn Mạnh Tường (1909–1997) was a Vietnamese lawyer and intellectual. He was known to be one of the active participators in the Nhân Văn affair in the mid-1950s which saw many intellectuals demanding freedom and democracy in communist-led North Vietnam. After he criticised the disastrous land reform campaign in 1956, he was stripped of all positions he held in the government and was forced to retire from practicing law.

Hanoi Medical University is the oldest university of Vietnam and is located in Hanoi. HMU was founded in 1902 by French during the French colonisation under the name Indochina Medical College. The first headmaster of HMU was Alexandre Yersin who was the co-discoverer of the bacillus responsible for the bubonic plague or pest, which was renamed in his honour.

The Ministry of National Defence, alternatively the Ministry of Defence (MoD), fully the Ministry of Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is the governmental ministry of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam that manages, coordinates and supervises military affairs, including all military units, paramilitary units, and similar agencies in the country. The major office of the Ministry of National Defence is located within the ancient Hanoi Citadel. The ministry is operated in compliance with the Constitution and Laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, ideologically under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the unified State management of the Vietnamese Government. Chu Van An High School, also known as Chu Van An National School or Pomelo School one of the three national high schools for the gifted in Vietnam along with Quoc Hoc High School in Huế and Le Hong Phong High School in Ho Chi Minh City. It is also one of the four magnet high schools in Hanoi, Vietnam, along with Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, Son Tay High School and Nguyen Hue High School. Established by the French authorities in 1908 as College of the Protectorate, Chu Van An is one of the oldest institutions for secondary education in Southeast Asia. Despite initially intending to train native civil servants to serve the French colonial establishments, Vietnamese students at Bưởi school often struggled against colonial doctrine. A lot of Bưởi alumni became renowned political leaders and cultural figures in many areas of Vietnamese society such as Nguyễn Văn Cừ – the fourth general secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam, Phạm Văn Đồng – the first prime minister of North Vietnam and united Vietnam, Nguyễn Cao Kỳ- former vice president and prime minister of South Vietnam, Kaysone Phomvihane- former leader of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Prince Souphanouvong- the first president of Laos.

Trần Phú was a Vietnamese revolutionary and the first general secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party, later renamed the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Vietnam has 22 military schools training officers for all branches, agencies, units belongs to the Ministry of Defence (Vietnam). Which has 19 schools enroll high school-level institutions, non-commissioned officers and soldiers. National Defense Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi only enrolls military officers have graduated from the Military Academy in middle level. Army Academy enrolls officers just graduated from officer school. Vietnam Military Political Academy in Ha Dong only enrolls officers have graduated from the Political Officer University school and the Officer Academies and other institutions in the military.

Nguyễn Siêu School is a private primary school and secondary school in Hanoi, Vietnam. The school was founded by senior colonel Nguyễn Trọng Vĩnh with his wife, which made it one of the first private schools in Hanoi. It was also known to have a very selective admission process as it has a very high number of applicants, despite its higher than average tuition fee. The school's quality of education has been recognized by numerous Vietnamese branches of government and other organizations.
