BMX racing is a type of bicycle racing which features BMX riders sharing a short single-lap circuit or point-to-point course, with multiple banked corners, jumps and rollers. The format of BMX was derived from motocross racing, and sanctioned internationally by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), facilitated by a number of continental, national and local sanctioning bodies.

In 1978, Van Houwelingen was a member of the team that won the team time trial at the 1978 UCI Road World Championships.
Nicolaas ("Nico") Cornelis Maria Verhoeven is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1985 to 1995. He represented his native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, in the individual road race where he didn't finish the race. Verhoeven won the first stage in the 1987 Tour de France.
Antonius Johannes Petrus Poels is a retired Dutch professional cyclist.
Jacobus Johannes Henricus "Jacques" Hanegraaf is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1981 to 1994. He twice won the Dutch title in the men's road race. His other major wins include the 1984 Amstel Gold Race. Hanegraaf later became a cycling manager, first for TVM and later for Team Bianchi and Unibet.com. He also competed in the individual road race and team time trial events at the 1980 Summer Olympics.

He was a member of two American Olympic teams and was only the third ever American to compete in and finish the Tour de France. For over the last twenty years, he has served as a consultant and expert witness to attorneys who represent parties involved in bicycle accident litigation.
Jessie Daams is a Belgian former racing cyclist. She competed in the 2013 UCI women's road race in Florence. Her father is the Dutch cyclist Hans Daams.
